Madden connectivity issues

I wanted to share my experience with a persistent issue I’ve been facing while trying to play Madden online, in the hope that someone from the community — or ideally from EA — might be able to shed some light or help me find a solution. This has been affecting my gameplay since Madden 22, and despite various changes to my setup and environment, the issue remains unresolved as we approach the release of the new title

I’ve been playing Madden consistently since 2020. My setup has changed slightly over time, but I’ve always aimed to maintain a stable and high-speed internet connection. Initially, I was on a fiber optic connection with excellent performance. However, due to changes in my home infrastructure, I’ve recently switched to a high-end 5G home router.

Even after switching, my current internet speeds remain strong. I routinely get:

• Download Speed: 500+ Mbps
• Upload Speed: Over 30 Mbps
• Ping: Consistently low (under 30 ms) on most speed test platforms
• Connection Type: Wireless via a 5G router (but tests run on multiple devices to confirm strength)
• Platform: [PlayStation 5]

For most modern games, this connection works without issue. I’ve played other EA online titles — most recently the new Battlefield — as well as other multiplayer games like FIFA, Apex Legends, and Call of Duty, without any lag, disconnects, or performance drops. The issue I’m experiencing seems to be exclusive to Madden.

The Problem: Lag, Input Delay, and Disconnection

Since Madden 22, I’ve faced a recurring and frustrating issue. In roughly 80% of my online Madden matches, the following pattern occurs:

1. Game starts normally, and everything appears stable in the menus and during the kickoff.
2. Within the first few plays, I begin to experience heavy input delay — for example, pressing a button and waiting over a second for my player to react.
3. Shortly after, the game stutters, the lag worsens, and I lose control of the match.
4. Eventually, I’m disconnected, receiving a message indicating that I’ve been removed from the game, or the connection has been lost.
5. This leads to losses in ranked matches, missed opportunities in MUT, and, most importantly, a completely unplayable experience.

This issue has been consistent across multiple Madden releases — 22, 23, and now 24.
