Do you or did you used any Mods?

Do you start the game from inside Steam or from a desktop shortcut or the game Exe?

If shortcut or game Exe, try to start from inside Steam while running Steam as Administrator. (Right click the Steam.exe > Run as an Administrator.)

If that don't helps:

• Make sure Steam is completely closed.
• Go to your "Documents\Bioware" folder and move the "Mass Effect 2" folder to your desktop.
• Test.

@holger1405Nah.. This my first time playing mass effect.. i launch it from desktop. Also, sometimes everytime i launch it i heard a pop sound.. that method not working sir..
