Well, it seems EA isn't going to respond to this, and short of folks tweeting at Bioware devs... I decided to try to figure out a solution on my own and I think it worked? It was a tedious pain though.
https://answers.ea.com/t5/Mass-Effect-Legendary-Edition/Dialogue-Cut-Out/td-p/10362146If you go to that post, and my comment under #9. I haven't had the audio issue at all since I deleted the game and reinstalled it. I have a feeling it has to do with installing the games completely before letting the Day 1 update install? It may have been overkill all the things I did differently when reinstalling the game but... I just wanted to fix it. I still think those in charge need to 1) address this and stop ignoring and 2) patch it.
When I first installed a month ago:
Set External Hard drive as game location
Inserted disc 1, installed Mass Effect 1 AND had it download the update simultaneously
Downloaded Mass Effect 2 and 3, which ignored Disc 2
Would play game by clicking "Resume" from the LE Main menu launcher
Because of bug:
Deleted ME:LE from my XBox One XThis time, with no errors appearing:
Set The XBox One X as the game location
Turned internet off, so the update would not prompt and I could fully use installation discsInserted Disc 1, Installed Mass Effect 1 and half of 2
Inserted Disc 2 when prompted, downloaded remainder of Mass Effect 2 and 3
Reinserted Disc 1 when prompted
Once complete, turned internet back on, and downloaded update
Click Start Game from launcher, and then Resume once on the Mass Effect 1 original menu

Thanks for the tip, but someone else posted this same issue and EA responded without being tagged. Then, EA stopped responding at all. So it seems they don't need to be tagged and it didn't matter because they ignore you anyway :-(
The post I'm taking about is titled
BUG: Dialogue audio cuts off sometimes
I think this bug is a side effect of the way the devs programmed the game.
Which is the worst way to make game audio in my opinion.
I notice when i play that whenever a companion starts to talk, and you are walking and run into another NPC that starts talking, that the first one (companion in this case) audio cuts out.
I think this is intentional behaviour to make sure you can follow what's being said, and if so, it's ofcourse a bad decision cause our brain is wired to filter out secondary noises that where not paying attention too.
So they made a bad decision there, the game should play up to 8 conversations simultaneously if need be, not just the one.
And i suspect that this rigorous mandatory only 1 NPC may talk programming is causing issues with audio cutting out in conversations.
It might also just be a setting in a ini file somewhere that lets the game mux multiple conversations, but i suspect it's intentionally programmed, and a buggy routine.
Shame that once gamedevs earned enough money on a product, that they really don't care anymore with fixing their bugs.
They seem to fix some bugs in the first month, and after that they don't bother anymore it seems.
And i must also conclude that so far the Legendary Edition is 100x more buggy than the original trilogy, i never had any weird thing happening in OT,
while in LE it's a myriad of bugs i'm encountering, not worth the hassle imo, you're better of playing OT with mods.- draconiam4 years agoSeasoned Ace@jmjfrank Why would they? Both Bioware and EA cashed in and gaming journalists aren't doing pieces of hoe they abandoned the game.

If you think this is bad wait until you see that this is likely a Legacy issue that they didn't fixed in ME2 and ME3 LE.
Ashley Williams conversations are supposed to last longer and she has a conversation that doesn't trigger with Liara when she gets back to the Normandy:

I tweeted the official Bioware, EA and Mass Effect accounts earlier this week and got no response. Just tweeted Patrick and Karin Weekes (who worked on the trilogy) asking them who people need to contact to actually get help for bugs. While I no longer have the dialogue issue, so many others do, and I am still having other bugs like Kaidan and Shepard looking possessed during the most important cut scene of the trilogy for their romance, which is 90 hours in. And someone else I talked to consistently has characters that are missing eyeballs. Yes, you read that right.
I wish I could play with mods, but I'm on an XBox One X, not a computer :-/
- @jmjfrank All five of those accounts are set to be unmessagable, so I doubt you will get anywhere there.
The fact that such a glaringly obvious bug hasn't been addressed after all these months is awful.

I know. That no one is listening, customer service is unreachable... It's a horrible feeling to be a loyal fan for all these years, and to be treated like this. It just feels hopeless.
- draconiam4 years agoSeasoned Ace@Merik2013 The fact that some of these issues weren't part of the original releases or were indeed part of the original releases is the awful part.
