Can anyone offer tips on the point spread for Asari Sentinel?

I've been trying out the Asari Sentinel in coop, and so far it really seems to suit my playstyle.  I'm pretty average when it comes to guns, so I never really want to be the DPS guy.  I really enjoy support roles, and the AS has energy drain and throw for CC.  So far, I've put most of my points into drain (Team Drain) and backlash, as well as the passives.  I left Throw as a 1 point skill.  However, I'm not sure about backlash.  It's been a lifesaver in some situations, but often, especially on Gold, I find damage coming from all sides and it doesn't always work well.

My question is, has anyone ever played this class without using a single dump skill, but rather dividing points between backlash and throw?  I find Throw really works well with ED, and I wondered if I'd get better use out of putting more points into it and taking some out of Backlash.  Or would I be better off maxing Throw and just keeping BL as a single point skill just for getting to cover in a piinch.

Its been that long since i played the sentinel, that i've forgotten she was there, quite a versatile character, but on the build i used when i levelled her up, i had 1 point in backlash only.    Pretty sure i just grabbed a build from youtube for this one, but the build i was using was

    Backlash:  1

    Throw: 1/2/3/4a/5b/6b

    E.Drain: 1/2/3/4b/5a/6a

    Off.biotics: 1/2/3/4b/5b/6b

    Tech armor: 1/2/3/4a/5a/6a

as i said it was a guide i pulled from youtube, and its likely been updated now but what i will say is that i use backlash fully upgraded on my asari duelist and i know on that, its not just a lifesaver, but it is excellent cover for those situations where devices need disabling and you are just covering someone who is grabbing the objective so they don't get disrupted and has to start over.

Hopefully someone who plays the sentinel(asari) can confirm their build if they play on gold a lot, but i have to tell you i didn't start playing golds really until much later on, i was mostly on silvers.. i think 1.09 taught me that with so many cards now in the loot pool i had to go up to gold to stand a chance of maxing anything in good time.

  • For me and the way I play, I like this point spread....

    BackLash- 1,2,3,4a,5a

    Throw--1,2,3,4a,5a,6b

    Energy Drain--1,2,3,4a,5a,6a

    Offensive Biotics--1,2,3,4b,5b

    Tech Armor--1,2,3,4b

    Runs with equipment...

    Siphon Shotgun(Ruzad or usually Diciple)

    N7Valk assault rifle

Multicapacitor (this reduces shield delay time greatly)

Now this may not be the best way, but it suits MY play style and I enjoy playing her.  I personally love sending flack gun of beserkers or the big ball of Asendents back at them.....So having backlash of a level to be effective is a must for me.  I play her mostly on gold, as I don't really get into Platnium yet, don't have the guns yet I feel....

Platinum just scares me 🙂  I played on bronze initially, and these days i just solo them unless i'm re-levelling a character for fun, but then progress to silver as soon I can.  Silvers are fun, increased AI and incoming damage and mob types over bronze... then i hit gold.. a sharper rise again.

Then.. however, i tried platinum, I took my duellist.. and it has to be said.. it left me feeling rather overwhelmed, i think i died more times than Connor McLeod on HIghlander 😉 as did many in the group.  It was going well up until one point where it seemed they threw every single boss at us, all at once and it was at this point i was thinking.. this is too sharp a rise compared to gold.

We full extracted wave 7.. but i've never been back and done another.. i've joined a gold lobby and they've switched to platinum and i've left immediately.  I dunno, maybe i just prefer not to use all my consumables in 1 small part of 1 wave.  Perhaps i'll try again some day, but for now.. i just don't feel at ease clicking into a platinum as i do a gold.

Thanks for the feedback.  I've been putting more time in and I definitely see the incredible situational uses for that shield.  If nothing else it gives me a way to kill off a few precious seconds waiting for the cooldown on ED.  I'll take a look at some of the top tier skills and maybe dump one so I can at least up the cooldown and power of Throw.

While we're on the topic, I'm glad it's not just me thinking I'm really that bad at Platinum.  I've run some waves as a XX human adept and unless I was situated behind frontline players, providing ranged support with Singularity and Shockwave, I was dying in seconds.  At one point someone revived me and I couldn't even get clear of fire fast enough to keep from dying a split second later.  The sentinel was serviceable on Gold, but I doubt I could make her any use on Plat.

Is platinum meant for when you have a maxed out weapon and some top tier booster mods?  I got the game quite late and my Apex is only around 6000ish, so I'm assuming I shouldnt' be anywhere near that difficulty.
