[Discussion] Saving The Galaxy One More Time!

Commander, you've received a new message at your private terminal!

So, you have saved the galaxy once again. The reapers have been taken down, and everyone you could save is alive - No one left behind!

And, you took your vacation! Now what? Move on with another game? Different game mechanics, different story, etc.

NOPE! I mean you could, but, why not save the galaxy again? I am. And This time it is FemShep's turn to take down the reapers! Here is the situation I run into.

  • Do I play the same run?
  • Choose the same Weapons?
  • Same Armor?
  • Same decisions?

I mean, I could but that is no fun. Time for a different build, different choices, and certainly more entertaining weapons than what I played before! I am not big on the FPS games.

I love a good story, character development, and all of those decisions that make you go - OMG I have no idea what to choose!

Side Note: I had no idea that Jennifer Hale did so many roles in things I loved. I recently found out she was in the X-Men 97 reboot. If you ever want to be a voice actor, she's someone you want to follow. Different conversation though...

This series holds so many memories from the first time I became a Spectre to the Final Hours and decisions I had to make during some of the most amazing DLC content I have ever played.

Mass Effect

Bring Down the Sky - OH boy! The decision you have to make in this one!

Pinnacle Station - I had respect for this one. It tested my limits of combat for sure!

Mass Effect Full DLC List

The team and I are ready to save the galaxy one more time!

Now, the questions at hand!

When you start a new run-through, do you change it up, or do you run with familiar builds?

What is your go-to character build?

Which weapons do you prefer using?

Do you have a favorite armor set? I am very partial to the Collector armor and Blood Dragon armor!

  • The weapons handle significantly differently, so you can mix it up. You can now snipe with a shotgun or use a sniper rifle like an assault rifle.

Any weapon can work on any build now, and maxxing out 12 points is not necessary or even desireable. I suggest you create a new character and experiment with the weapons. Pay attention to the active abilities like marksman and carnage, they have been changed significantly.

Also, I can't prove it but the force attributes have been probably changed for biotics. I can pick up a geth colossus with only advanced lift, and before it required Master Lift.

Finally some mechanics changes make insanity much easier in LE1.

I loved using the sniper rifle. I always defaulted to a class that used them simply because they were fun from a distance.

One of the best pieces of advice I give players about it. You have to experiment with classes until you find the one you like the most and that works with your play style.

The changes in mechanics were nice for me. I ran through a few plays just with the LE.

I'm trying out a sentinel with a sniper rifle. I use a bolt action rifle like the naginata or spectre for traditional sniping and landing headshots.

But when dealing with charging enemies like thorians, I use a semi auto like the Volkov with hammer head rounds and fire from the hip and aim centre of mass. It essentially doubles as a shotgun.
