EA, please reconsider canceling Mass Effect: Universe
I just watched the leaked Mass Effect: Universe trailer, and it made me genuinely excited about Mass Effect again. It looked like a worthy successor to the original trilogy in a way Andromeda never did for me. Knowing development has stopped makes seeing that potential incredibly frustrating.
What really got me was Liara. Seeing an older Liara, still actively involved in the story, is exactly the kind of continuity I wanted. Time has passed, but the people and events we cared about still matter. I love that sense of a persistent universe with a history, and I want to see what comes next.
I also really liked the character designs, including the beautiful women. Attractive characters, strong personalities, memorable relationships, and a great science-fiction setting can all belong in the same game. That combination was part of the original trilogy’s appeal for me.
I understand this was early footage, not a finished game. A promising trailer doesn’t tell us how much work remained. I’m asking EA to reconsider and give this project the support and development time it needs to become a complete game.
Losing BioWare is bad enough. Seeing a glimpse of a Mass Effect sequel I actually wanted, then knowing it may never be released, makes it worse.
Please reconsider. I want to experience this next chapter, not just watch a trailer for what could have been.
