Just finished Life On The Frontier (the Kadara quest you get from Sid) and no crashing thus far. So it wasn't that one.
Perhaps it has more to do with something in the order of the quests, or which ones are open simultaneously. No way of knowing I suppose. Hopefully the dev team can handle this and patch it.

Unfortunately the only proven solution as of yet is to go back to an older save prior to the bug occurring. I did this and lost 20 hours but haven't seen the bug pop up again. I still believe the Contagion or Firefighters quest has something to do with it so I've been avoiding those two.
There are also reports that going offline and finishing "search for the archon" quest hepled as well. So you d better do that too, just to be sure. But you will need save file before arriving to the nexus anyway.

So, this looks like the same bug, folks there are saying that:
"I read on another thread that doing the Chasing the Archon quest BEFORE returning to the Nexus will resolve this bug so I tried it. Miraculously, it worked. However, I had to reload to an autosave point to when I first docked on the Nexus before I found the scrambler."

I got the bug before ever doing the Hunting The Archon quest. After the bug hit me I tried finishing Hunting The Archon after seeing it recommended as a solution on this forum. This alleviated the bug temporarily but it came back after that. The bug has popped up again for several of us on this forum, actually. For me only about 30 mins later, for another poster in a separate thread it took 10 hours but it came back.
Completing Hunting the Archon doesn't solve it for all of us so I'm not going to mark it as a solution in this thread.
I ended up just reloading an old save and playing from there, making sure to periodically visit the Nexus after each hour or so of play. Haven't seen the bug yet, but I've been ignoring the Contagion quest in fear that something there is sparking it.
