How do I play ME3 without origin installed?

I've been looking for a way to buy ME3 for my PC and play it without Origin installed. I've looked at a ton of reports and research into how Origin scans your computer and logs information, and I want nothing to do with it. I just want to play the game without having my computer scanned by EA.

Is there a way to do this legally, or do the pirates only get this priviledge? Maybe a place where I can purchase a physical copy? I've looked around and all people seem to have to sell is download codes.

  • There is no legal way to bypass Origin, so my advice is to just use Origin.

Origin no longer scans your entire hard disk. Only EA folders. This change came after the controversy you described. From what i've read, Steam (which I consider the superior service) actually scans more data even if you specifically state you don't want to share information.

If you're still not convinced, you could run Origin in a "sandbox", which limits the data it can read to very specific folders. http://www.sandboxie.com/

  • Thanks, but after seeing all the Origin-related problems in these forums (disconnects, DLC issues, bioware points disappearing, etc.), I think I'm just going to have to skip this game. Buying/playing a single-player game for PC shouldn't be this hard =(

  • Once you've registered the game via Origin, you can set it to "off-line" and never connect to the service again.

  • I had to reset my password and Origin did an update. Then it asked me to create a profile, which I thought strange as I already had one.It wants my product code but won't accept it because it's already been used...How can I get around this??
