Use this guide to go to the Enhancements settings.

If there are any set, disable them and test.

this made it slightly better, but now everything else is really loud even when the soundbar is low. but I can still barely hear the voices. thank you for assisting though, i appreciate it.

Did you tried to adjust with the in game sliders?

yes and even with the other sliders low and the dialogue slider maxed, it was still too low.

Did you checked the MELE settings in the Volume Mixer?

What kind of surround sound hardware do you have?

I did check the volume mixer and nothing worked. I forgot to mention that this issue has only occurred with mass effect. my setup is a 5.1 Vizio surround sound: model number is SB3651-F6. It has a wireless subwoofer and back speakers. the soundbar is plugged into the tv and I would like to keep it that way.

Yeah, it should work this way.

I am afraid, if you can't find a solution insid the Windows settings, there is not much I can suggest anymore.

If it works flawless with the two other games it might be a problem in the way ME2 is providing the sound.

most of mass effect 2 worked fine until there the previous windows update, after that it stopped working. that's what I think happened caused the problem. thanks for your help, even though I couldn't fix it.

You can always roll back the update.

Alternately you can check the system files:

• Hit Windows key and X.
• Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command prompt (Administrator),” whichever option is offered.
• Inside the PowerShell or CMD, enter “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Checkhealth” without quotes. > ENTER.
• If errors are found, notify us. If no errors were found reaped steps 1 & 2.
• Inside the PowerShell or CMD, enter “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes. > ENTER.
• The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here.
• After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key and X again.
• Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command Prompt (Administrator)”
• Inside the PowerShell or CMD, enter “sfc /scannow” without quotes. >ENTER.
• Post the message you receive at the end of the processes here.

I tried entering DISM.exe/online/cleanup-image/check health into the command prompt and it said elevated permissions are required to run DISM, and PowerShell just said that the command was unrecognizable. is there any way I could fix this to go through all the steps.
