Mass Effect 2 No Longer Launching
A few days ago Mass Effect 2 simply stopped working. When I launch it the EA App closes, nothing happens, a second later the EA App is up again. What's particularly annoying is that this wasn't happening before, I'd been playing ME2 for days on this computer with minimal problems. I ran into the occasional bug here and there but nothing too terrible.
It might be relevant but I ran into bugs in the Shadow Broker DLC that would occasionally cause the game to freeze visually, though I could still hear things going on in the background, requiring me to close the program. The last major problem was when I attempted to leave the Shadow Broker's base after claiming it with Liara and the game crashed so hard I couldn't even Windows + Tab to get out of it, I had to shut the computer down and start it back up. After that incident the game now simply refuses to launch. Reaching out to EA tech support has resulted in getting emails telling me to do all sorts of things that don't work. "Repair" on the EA App doesn't result in a change, clearing the cache doesn't do anything. I've looked up related previous issues like this one and one suggestion was to delete the Saves (after backing them up with a copy) and see if that fixed anything. I did, it did not. I tried going offline to prevent the Cloud from restoring the old saves, this still did nothing; the game still crashes on start.
ME1 and ME3 both work just fine in all this but as it is the middle part of the trilogy is completely walled off to me, hoping anyone here could help.
Please make sure the "Documents\Bioware\Mass Effect 2\Save" folder is still empty.
Then move the "Documents\Bioware\Mass Effect 2\BIOGame" folder to your Desktop. > Test.
If that don't helps:
Preform a clean boot and test the Game in clean boot mode.Make sure your virus scanner and other security software and alos Afterburner and similar software is disabled.
Make also sure that your GPU & CPU are not overclocked.
