@draconiam okay I am 90% sure that this is still a bug but also 10% sure that they have change their romance parameters for the game primarily because I romanced a character before suicide mission and Work the cut scene worked the Achievement unlocked normally but I still think there might be a glitch in the romance plot flagging system because if they made a change in the romance parameters to remove the ability to romance someone after a suicide mission they would’ve added that in the information that was given before release like they would’ve said we did make some modifications to the romance mechanics where remove the ability to Romance after suicide mission was blocked but I’m gonna do a bit more research on that before I make a final conclusion on that theory
@dylan881 Well, we did got a patch without Patch Notes and I haven't heard anything from game modders about the contents of the patch.

@draconiamI don’t know if this may be part of the glitch or a separate glitch but I noticed the save files in my game have got completely different time playing hours like for example one of my saved files have got 104 hours and 23 minutes on it but then another one has only got six hours 38 minutes and then only /50 minutes /one minute it’s like all the saved have got different hours from the point when I save them now I know for a fact in the original version that didn’t happen
- @draconiam that something might look at but on the thing in regards to the romance glitch I looked on the Internet about any changes to the mechanics of romancing after the suicide mission and it looks like there hasn’t been any form of changes like they haven’t made it impossible to do it after the last level say could be A bit of the is synchronising between the The dialogue and the cut scene maybe out of whack because again I refer to the original version and romancing after a suicide mission it only takes a few moments and I might do a timing on how long it takes from dialogue to romancing to happen and then that might help me get a better understanding with this glitch Because I only thought of this and I am a was stupid not to think about this earlier but the timing between dialogue and cut scene might also be a factor this is off the suicide mission
- @draconiam I would say between the dialogue and then the scene would be about minimum a minute and a half to 2 minutes from dialogue to scene now doing the romance before suicide mission takes longer depending on how far The game is before suicide mission so on a hypothetical level say do the romance dialogue of the legions loyalty mission and then do the suicide mission I would say about roughly the same time line from the Lock in point dialogue to the actual scene now going on the information about the Le we can assume that they used the same coding for everything from combat to romance it would be the same code so by that logic it should Work the same way in terms of romancing after the suicide mission but it’s for me at least still a mystery on way It not where Working properly properly after suicide mission I mean if we had information that this glitch was on the PC version then maybe someone could dig into that like look at the plot flag mechanic in file and seeing if anything Not working properly because the same plot flagging system would be on for all platforms so if that glitch can be found on one platform it means it could be found on others

- @draconiam i’m sorry for being a pain in the butt but this is really stuck in my brain it’s like a mystery I want to solve and I’m just trying to as much clues as I can because in the back of my brain it’s saying there’s gotta be a connection with some of these glitches like with some of these trophies and achievements to unlocking properly it just feels that One glitch is connected to another but the glitches with the achievements maybe connected to glitches in game you know what I mean
I don't think that it was ever intended to have a romance or another romance after the suicide mission.
The romance must be locked in before you hit the Omega 4 relay and the romance scene is triggered if you hit it.
That is a hardcoded event that determines your romance for this playthrough.
You can only have one full romance, (Kelly or Samara are not full romances), in one playthrough.

I think it was. After the credits in ME2 the New Game+ prompt says "Continue this game: Complete unfinished missions, develop relationships, play downloaded content, and explore the galaxy for anything you missed."
Seems clear to me that continuing/starting/changing relationships after the suicide mission was intended. As for the romance scene, I don't know whether those are meant to play afterwards or not. It always felt to me like the scene was supposed to be tied to the suicide mission.Yes, in a new game +.
If I got OP right they is playing inside the original playthrough.

The section I quoted is not for starting a new game, it's for continuing the existing game, hence "complete unfinished missions" etc.
The prompt has two sections, "Continue this game", and "Import Shepard: Start a New Game". The quote was from the former.Yes, but as said, the main relationship is already logged in if you go trough the Omega realy.
As said, I don't think it was ever intended to do another relationship inside the same playthrough.But I see now that in a later post OP mentions that he had no relationship before he got to the suicide mission.
It might be that OP has a purely technical problem that is not related to a relationship at all.

One of the things the game suggests doing if you continue the current playthrough after the suicide mission is "develop relationships." That seems pretty clear.
Why are you so certain that this wasn't intended? Do you have evidence to the contrary?- @DocTheGamer What bothers me is that they were accepted in the original release and in fact gave players the Paramour II, yet now not. @holger1405
- @holger1405 here’s what happens and I didn’t romance anyone before the suicide whenever I do the dialogue which locked in the romance that I’m trying to do the dialogue part works okay after the dialogue is done and I’ve locked in that romance The screen goes completely black I can hear background noise I can hear the character moving I can pause the game I can go to the squad points menu codecs basically everything in the pool as many I can access The other thing is in the squad mates menu where you can access the squad points my shepherds face is completely black like nothing is there the menu side areas are black it’s not the normal colour basically the whole menu is basically black it’s not a normal colour that should be as it was in that was normally working and when I click on the character that I romanced The screen goes normal I go up to my shepherds cabin I can invite the romantic partner up and doing the normal things that happens after the romance but I didn’t get the scene I didn’t get the achievement I actually took some photos of what I was talking about
I can verify that romancing after the suicide mission still works on the original 360 game No problems it works like it’s meant to
- @holger1405 I know you asked dylan about the black screen but the same happens to me in PS4, I finish the Suicide Mission and go to talk with the romance option (a loyal Tali) and get to the conversation point when you lock in the romance now, in the 360 it jumped to the cabin cutscene and then the achievement popped up (to which I promted to reload before filtring with Tali) but now I get the lock in conversation and it just turns into a black screen where you can hear the engine running and after pressing a few buttons a minute or two later the game starts up in the Engine deck besides Tali and when I go to the Captain Cabin Williams photo is turned upside down (which means that the conditions were secured for the trophy). I can invite Tali to the cabin but no romance scene.
Do you have evidence that a new relationship was intended in the same playthrough other than a vague line that could mean to "develop relationships" if you don't have any or even just befriending the squamates?
It was, in the original games, possible dump a love interest after the suicide mission, but only if you have bin in the "challenge" stage with a other possible love interest.
That don't seemed to be intended behaviour to me.
You could not dump a relationship in any other way after you hit the Omega 4 Relay.Do you have a save before you hit the Omega 4 Relay so you can test if this also happens if you pursue a relationship before doing the suicide mission?
@holger1405I actually did do that I tested it before the suicide mission commenced a romance and it worked fine the romance scene where normally the achievement unlocked normally but I have to stresses out that I didn’t romance anyone before the omega 4 relay at the time of this posting of the topic and I did put attachments of photos of what was going on because I was completely confused I didn’t know what was going on and it is probably the most best idea to try and save the game at certain points because it really does save a lot of headaches

So this might be a bug on the Xbox version, or some game files got corrupted.
The fact that @draconiam experienced a similar problem and others mentioned problems on the Xbox as well, points to the first.
The second only could be ruled out by a power cycle and/or a new installation of the game.

These interpretations of "develop relationships" are not mutually exclusive, there's nothing to suggest it doesn't refer to befriending squadmates and advancing romances in general. You're suggesting it definitely doesn't mean start a romance with another squadmate (which is a completely plausible interpretation) which is both oddly specific and has no additional evidence.And of course you must have access to the "challenge" stage of a romance in order to start a new one. If you don't have access to this stage then you have already rejected them as a romance, and obviously you can't start a romance with someone you have already rejected. Nothing suggests to me that that wasn't intended.
