mass effect 3 ladder glitch

i was just wondering for people like us who play mass effect all the time, does anyone ever encounter the "ladder glitch"?

like, at random times i try to go down a ladder, and it wont let me, it shows the animation like i did, but im still at the top.

i dont have a way to stop this from happening, and reloading the save doesnt help. its basically killed three of my playthroughs because i couldnt finish i priority mission, so i had to start over. if you have had this problem or know a way to fix it lemme know!

It's a problem with the physics engine of the game. I avoid ladders going down and jump. I'd rather take the damage than get stuck.

I've gone through 3 revisions of the nvidia drivers and have had it happen on each.

It may not affect ati owners, or it may only be an sli thing.

    My rig is as follows

    Intel q6600

    8gb ballistix ddr2

    primary geforce 250 gs

    physx geforce 8600 gs

On a full playthrough it usually will happen once or twice, I try to descend a ladder and the game just has me climbing down without moving. The character animation is going, but I'm not moving.

It has only ever happened to me in combat situations, and I fall when I get shot, but it is annoying to no end waiting for that to happen.

Hence, I just jump whenever I can.

Sorry I don't have a fix, but more info is always needed on the support side.

You should probably list the following specs

    CPU:

    ram:

    motherboard:

    primary video:

    physx video:

    sound card:

    operating system:

    chipset driver version number:

    primary vid card driver driver:

    secondary vid card driver number:

    sound card driver number:

If you are running a retail built rig (HP, Dell, Acer) ignore the motherboard spec request, just post the full model number.

If you are running a custom job, chipset revision would also be helpful.

i know that this is technically not a solution, but when you said you got shot it struck a cord with me, so i thought id try and get shot BY MY OWN TEAMMATE!!

right after i triggered the ladder climb down i selected EDI's overload power (im sure any power from any squadmate would work), the grapic of shepard going down the ladder didnt show, but i was suddenly at the bottom!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE IDEA!

  • A solution is to switch the game on a windowed mode, and it works.

You can go back to a normal mode just after it.

im usually in window mode because the gameplay is much smoother anyway, so i dont think that helps.

and ill try some of your other tips too.

its only happened to me a couple times, and in one of three places.

it happened twice on the ardat yakshi monistary, one on the intro in vancoover, and i have yet to complete the leviathan DLC because it happens EVERYTIME on the approach to ann bryson's location. thats the one im most pissed about.

  • I think I figured it out. After running at this same ladder for anywhere from 5-7 times, I found that if you look straight up as far as you can while the animation is running (but you aren't moving), you'll actually go down the ladder. Hope this helps!
