Well, it's now late July 30th and this still isn't fixed. I have been online with Origin help for an hour yet again tonight - that's every night for a fortnight..........
I too have done all the 'troubleshooting steps' - tedious uninstalling, re-installing, ports, admin accounts...blah blah blah.
I thought, that maybe to lighten the frustration, we'd like a list of the excuses I have been given so far:
1. Yes, we are aware of it, it'll be fixed in the next update
2. I don't know what you are talking about
3. We are aware of it and EA is working very hard to resolve the issue
4. I don't know what you are talking about, there is no issue
5. What troubleshooting steps have you taken to fix your issue
6. Can you come back later - I don't know what you are talking about - about 3 hours from now there should be someone who can help
7. I am escalating this to the specialist team
8. There is no issue that we know of
9. I now send them the link to this post of 3 pages of global complaints...............
10. I am escalating this to the specialist team - they will email you within the next 2 weeks
here are some suggested answers:
1. When?
2. Whaaaaaaaaaaat?
3. Uh-huh
4. Whaaaaaaaaat?
5. None at all, I'm sitting on my arse doing nothing
6.You want me to wait until 2am? uh-huh
7. Oh goodie - cos' that's been really helpful so far
8. Whaaaaaaaaaat?
9. See that link I'm sending ya? No problem huh?
10. Most excellent - I am delighted to have to wait another fortnight for someone to tell me to uninstall and reinstall origin - HALLELUJAH!
Now what I really need are some of those "how much do you love Origin" Surveys...........
This is Horse...Pucky! Did they do the update to put us off old games so we'd buy new? Come on EA, We game and if the games are worthy, they will be played! Now fix this...Crud!

Hi, i've received confirmation that this bug should be resolved in an upcoming Origin build. I'll update the thread when there's more information.

Thanks for the update on the ongoing overlay issue with Mass Effect 3. The ME3 group I run with is looking forward to having it functional again as keying ALT-TAB to drop out of the game to the desktop is definitely annoying.

Been replaying Mass Effect 3. Could never be bothered with multiplayer until I thought I'd give it a look today.
Then, of course, I came across this issue.
This thread is over two years old.
The game itself is over three years old.
Really, EA?

Yes the thread is old, but the problem reapeared after an update to Origin last month, July -15.

Hey - so is there any more info on this - it's been over 6 weeks of 'horse pucky' - is there any actual intention for this issue to be resolved??????????? It's now August 18th here - your post is over 2 weeks old........................

Well, the update has arrived - JUST BLOODY FABULOUS. it has created another set of errors for which I am told I have to ............wait.........for......it..............
UNINSTALL AND RE-INSTALL ORIGIN.
Today's errors created by the Origin update are:
igoproxy64.exe System error. The program cannot be opened because MSVCP120.dll is missing from your computer.
I have just been to the online un-help service and they admit that Origin has caused the first part of that statement and very kindly wiped the second file from Windows.
I am putting this on here in case anyone else suffers the same pile of * from the 6 week wait for the ingame overlay to be repaired by the update.
TOTAL DISSERVICE TO YOUR PLAYER BASE EA, no other industry would get away with this level of horse pucky.👎😬
