For mass effect 5 (and 6) I want it to continue Andromeda. It is very much setup to be a new trilogy, the first one was like ME1, introduction of the galaxy, the races, the threats. The 2nd game I would expect to be like ME2, focus on the threat (the kett) and gathering allies to take the fight to them (hopefully with more races) AND learn more about the remnant. Then the 3rd game (if there is one) would hopefully be the big war like me3 was where we see epic scenes of Kett assualting angaran planets, huge devastation and loss of life, all those huge scale scenarios, maybe the remnant return, who knows. I try to keep my wishes for future games simple, I trust bioware to have a good story already planned, I just want them to do what they did with the original trilogy and take the foundation they placed and build on it with a lot of good gameplay and action. Make the andromeda trilogy so good that it stands alongside the milky way trilogy and people talk about two seperate stories that are both fantastic.
Now for my replies.
Hmmm as much as I loved the original trilogy, i don't think it's time to return to the milky way. Any kind of return post reaper invasion genuinely needs to be very well done and honestly? I wouldnt be surprised if they rebooted the original trilogy to take a different route LOOOOONG before they even consider trying to continue what has been made.
I liked Andromeda, granted the first 50% of the game was the longest grind of my life but once the mysteries started to unravel i definitely got intrigued and i wanted to know more about the kett, where they came from, what their goal is, what happened to the revenant and are they alive? are there more races in the galaxy we havnt seen? ect ect.
In the context of ME5 and ME6, as long as the story is focused on andromeda, the only references i want to the Milky way are for broken comms, news articles and official warnings from the reaper invasion to be picked up by the andromeda crew and heard on the news or on your personal computer or by the arks that arrived late. Milky way should not impact gameplay. Returning to the milky way is it's own story either in a comic or a game that would have to be caaaarefully written most likely with a 'in a parallel universe' disclaimer. First finish the andromeda story, then consider other options.
@AeromusPrime22 I @ you here cause I'm kinda agreeing with your many replies about andromeda focusing on itself 🙂 One story at a time
@RedDawnbreaker agreed about more management screens. the colonisation was so lame. on the first planet we got asked if we wanted a sciece or military base and then that was it. rest of the game everything else was planned and done. I understand the pathfinders job is to find good places and then the other leaders handle the logistics while you go find new places BUT surely pathfinders can have some sway in what gets built where or what the focus of each base is so you see impacts in the game? I'm not saying each planet should be the sims xD but a little bit of involvement in setting up the base would be nice. Hell helping them find food sources as they grow could be fun too.
@VegetonNG i like the black hold time travel idea, i do, but that's like.... comic book level complicated. If bioware ever releases a long term mass effect comic they can use the idea of time travel but for a game, thats way too tricky for your average player to try to understand or play around.
side note. when you said going back in time someone said they could bring remnant ships to beat the reapers then a 2nd person said the reapers are more advanced..... Im not sure if the reapers are more advanced than the remnant. just that they seem to be following different technological paths. The reaper goal is to purge the galaxy over and over right? so it makes sense that their tech is more geared towards combat, the reapers having big * shields so its hard to kill one, all that. the remnant as far as i can remember seem to have been focused on a more peaceful route, terraforming planets, experimenting with life, playing god. I'm not sure if they were a warmonging race so trying to compare fighting strength between the two and saying reapers are more advanced :/ well more powerful sure, not sure about advanced. Never heard of reapers terraforming planets.
@Turkeysocks you talked about building a mass effect relay costing a huge amount of time and resources. People are speculating that recent concept art shows a relay being built in the next game. I do not want to jump to conclusions, happy to wait and find out buuuut i have to say that if they are building relays i want them to be used to move around andromeda and if one is built to go back to the milky way they should clearly be heard saying that they cant get it to connect because the relays in the milky way arent responding. Still i must admit it is weird to me, if that is accurate, i dont know how they pull it off cause isnt the andromeda initiative a tiny population with limited resources? unless remnant machines can be hacked to build relays i really dont know how that would work.
