My screen flashes black at the Mission "Remove the Heart" on Voelb.

At the step "Destroy all three hangar platforms" the screen starts flickering black at the small explosion that happens in each platform right after i sabotage the console.
It stops when i look away but it happens again every time i turn the camera to the fire.

video example

Also, after that, the start up screen music persists after i load up my save and start playing in game.

The screen flashing also occurs every time, but in a lower degree, at dialogues with NPCs.
When i talk with an NPC and the camera just zooms in a bit the screen flashes black again.

Another major occurence was at the first time you activate a vault along with Peebee.
The screen started flashing different colours at the scene with the Galactic hologram map to a point that i couldnt watch the scene.

dxdiag

Anyone knows how to fix this?

Many thanks!

    amd fx:9590 @4.0ghz (motherboard issue)

    gigabyte geforce 1060 xtreme 6GB

    2X8 GB ram

monotor running at 4k game running at 1440p

got this to tryed 32 and 64 bit frame buffer only diffrence was on 32-bit i lost fps. hdr is disabled.tryed v sync and tripple buffering no effect.setting anti-alising to temporal aa and it stoped my screen flickering but now i have black vortexes around the objects and a mistake happend while building pc so having aa on max on this doesnt run well

  • I've been having the same issue. It's usually been so intermittent and infrequent that I've been able to just ignore it, but it's gotten to the point on Voeld where it's actually unplayable.

Here's a video I took of the issue.

Interestingly, the reason so much of the video is on the menu is because the menu was flickering a red tinge constantly, rather than black, and the contrast was less good (more colour banding). None of this was picked up by Nvidia Share, but the black flickering was.

I read that some people are fixing it by applying Temporal Antialiasing (AA was previously off entirely), so I tried enabling it. The result was this.

I mean... technically the entire screen is no longer flashing black... I wouldn't call it a fix, or even a workaround, though.

  • Had this issue, but also had this issue with many frostbite engine games, simply drop Effects Setting from Ultra to High and it stops doing it, i switch from ultra to high for the mission taking out the 3 ports / docks, then after i left the area i set it back to ultra, had the same thing happen to me in BF1 single player and Dragon Age Inq. ☹️

I has the same issue with Temporal AA enabled, i thought it was some bugged smoke/particle effect, didn't try to disable AA.

    I'm using RX480.

Same issue here as well it's even listed in the bug megathread I made and to my knowledge this bug still exists in patch 1.09 as well. If the issue is particle related it should not be hard to fix. One thing is for sure, Andromeda put the final nail in EAs coffin I'm never buying any of their games again they were hanging by a thread with me and Andromeda finished it.

Another workaround as the TAA option did not work for me:

Switching from Fullscreen to Borderless Window solved it for me.

I hope it helps at least another one unlucky soul. 🙂

    Cheers,

I've got version 1.10 of the game.

    Lastest NVidia Drivers

    GTX980 SLI

Flickers Green - but it's the only game it happens in.

I'm closing this thread to stop it from being necroed.

If you have any issues with Mass Effect: Andromeda, please make a new topic about your problems and what kind of steps you have tried to solve them.
