Mass Effect: Legendary Edition EA app/Epic Launcher problem

I purchased Mass Effect: Legendary Edition through Epic on 01/04/2023. When I first clicked "Install" in the Epic Games Launcher, it installed the EA app and I was forced to create a new account. I didn't know I'd have to install an entirely separate launcher to run the game, but honestly I wouldn't really mind if the following didn't happen.

Instead of having a desktop icon that simply launches the game, I'm now forced to load the EA app & click "Play." A progress bar opens (and stays open -- see picture #1), and focus then shifts over to the Epic Games Launcher, where I then have to click "Library" and "Favorites" (I've added it so I won't have to scroll all the way down to where Mass Effect is located every time) then click "Install" in order to launch the game. It's like Mass Effect in the Epic Games Launcher is in a perpetually uninstalled state through Epic only (see picture #2). I can't create a desktop shortcut through the Epic Games Launcher like I can with everything else I've installed.

I hate how this is set up & just want to be able to click an icon, load the launcher(s), and start the game. I tried uninstalling through the EA app and installing directly through the Epic Games Launcher, but it always forces install through the EA app.

Epic tech support suggested uninstalling the EA app, as well as restarting both the Epic Games Launcher & the EA app -- so basically no help at all.

If anyone else is experiencing this problem, I'd be eternally grateful for a workaround...

Are you even able to play the game at all? I seriously thought I was the only one having problems launching this game. I think there was another similar reddit post (from around the game's initial launch, if I remember) describing what I was going through, but whoever it was never posted a followup.

Would I have any problems buying it through Origin instead of the EA app? I can't find any sign of it going on sale at EA on IsThereAnyDeal, and the typical price for it is $60. I paid $12 and change through Epic. Origin's had it on sale for $15, which isn't so bad...

Is anyone helping you fix it? I can at least run the game if I wanted -- I just hate the hoops I have to jump through to do it. It blows my mind there can be problems this significant in something that was released a year and a half ago...

It is strange that MELE has a different price on Origin than on EA app. Both are official EA and should have the same price.
Is the region set correctly in both apps?

For your other question, it should not make any difference that it was already installed over Steam Epic.

Buying it again might be impossible. I tried locating it through Origin's store and it says it's already in my library, even though I first bought it through Epic. I'm trying to download it through Origin just to see if there's any difference this time. I think I first tried installing it through EA. We'll see what happens in 9 hours...

    Thanks for letting me know.

It seems there is a fundamental difference in how games that were brought on different platforms are handled now.
