ME 2 legendary edition on steam launching issues

ME2 legendary on steam:

  1. when in the settings at the main menu, selecting different areas of settings ie gameplay, video settings etc, they all just stack on top of each other instead of loading new individual menus, so I end up with all settings menus overlaying each other and they're unusable.
  2. When ME 2 starts it automatically starts the beginning cutscene with Shepard as male there are no character selection options available at all .

Iv tried reinstalling the game, running the steam file verifications etc. ME 3 legendary worked fine

  • Aha iv figured out the missing character selection options - it's when I use the a , b, x, y buttons at the menus, it's double pressing even though I'm not, so it's auto selecting male Shepard and doesn't even show the options screen. Totally fine if I use the mouse track pad. I can live with that.

I have changed the resolution to default on the legion go and in the game to match, the menus still all messed up but it's not a game breaker , if a solution comes up cool, if not I can work around it 🤗 thanks for everyone's replies 👍

Could you provide a screenshot of the issue as well as a DxDiag?

    How to create a DxDiag:

    1. Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time.
    2. Copy and paste or type "DxDiag" into the new field. (Without the quotes) > ENTER
    3. Wait until the green bar is gone > Click on "Save all information"
    4. Save the file to your desktop.
    5. Here at EA Forum > Click Replay > Click the paper clip icon at the bottom of the replay Window.
    6. Navigate to the "DxDiag.txt" on your desktop > select the "DxDiag.txt" > click on "Open".
    7. Type you massage > Reply.
  • Hello,

Dxdiag attached. Will see about screenshotting the menu issue, not sure how to screenshot the issue of the game starting instantly as male shep though, which is the most important issue for me over the menu thing :)

  • Hello,

Just a couple of screenshots wasn't sure how many to include :)

This appears to be a LENOVO Legion Windows handheld.
I have no experience with such a device, and although it is similar to a laptop, I don't know how compatible MELE is with it.

One thing I noticed is that the monitor resolution of a Legion 83E1  is 2560 × 1600 native.
    DxDiag reports a current resolution of 1920 x 1200.
    This might explain the problem.

Maybe it's attached to an external monitor. N7sheppaard Is this indeed a handheld, and if so, are you playing handheld or docked?

I can prob live with the messed up menu issue but there being no Shepard character selection options for ME 2 is a game breaker for me lol. The ME 1 and ME 3 worked fine, and I've played mass effect 2 for donkeys years to know I should be able to select a femshep at the start of ME 2 but no matter how many times I reinstall or verify the game files there is no character selection options at the start of ME2, it just goes straight into the Miranda / illusive man cutscenes. 😭
