    Try the "disable origin in game for this game" option in the game properties. Had the same problem and that fixed it for me.

i had the same problem aswell. Today i wanted to play mass effect and noticed that origin had an update and after that i got the same problem.

I guess something in the update perhaps caused it? Anyway i'm glad that disabling "Origin in-game" solved the problem and that i am now able to enjoy the game again!
