ME1 audio issue - dialog & sfx in surrounds instead of center

Mass Effect 1 dialog and sfx audio is coming from the rear/surround speakers instead of the center channel, meaning that conversations, weapons fire etc are all coming from behind the player instead...

Issues with audio on Mass effect legendary edition on PS5

As it is now the gunshots fired with the main character are crazy loud and all dialogue scene vocals are coming out of the surround speakers. other games are fine so my system is not the fault. Experienced on a ps5 that is connected to surround sound receiver via hdmi.
