Idk if I'm just not doing it right, but I attempted implementing the instructions in the link and, once I loaded my computer in a clean boot state (with networking, cause Origin won't let you launch games without an internet connection), the game was slower than ever and it added about 7 seconds to my elevator journey (plus a loading screen at the end).
I'll admit, I'm simply not confident enough in my software abilities to systematically disconnect each process one by one to check for what's causing the elevator issue.
BUT I just bought a 1TB SSD and will install the game on that as soon as it arrives to see if it solves most of the issues I seem to be having with it.

It sounds like you booted into Save mode, that is in fact something different than a "clean boot".
Inside a Save Boot no drivers are loaded and so the entire game is indeed very much slower.
Inside a "Clean Boot" all drivers are loaded, but third party applications and services are disabled and virus scanners should be disabled additionally.

Oh, you're right. That's exactly what I did.
I followed the instructions more closely (with some help from a friend) and managed to load my computer in a clean boot state as instructed.
Started the game, got on the elevator, and clocked 19 seconds on my phone's stopwatch from when I pushed the button to when I regain control of my Shepard. Unfortunately still slow...
I'm gonna update my status once I get the game installed on my SSD (it should be coming in the post tomorrow). - holger14055 years agoHero+

Update: After transferring the game to an SSD, I now clock 10 seconds instead of 15... at least it's an improvement!

That is a rather good improvement. 👍
