ME3 crash on "shore leave" mission

In mass effect legendary edition, in mass effect 3, during the "shore leave" mission on the citadel, shepard enters anderson's apartment, gets a message from joker, then is supposed to leave the apartment via the one exit.

The loading screen comes up, and (seemingly on completion of loading) it stutters and exits to the launcher.

Unfortunately, I all 3 of my saves are inside the apartment (quicksave, autosave, restart mission) so going back to a recoverable state doesn't seem to be an option.

The only thing I can think of is somehow changing the game state by visiting the available loadout screen in the apartment, but as I of course do not know what it is about the loading of the next map that crashes the game, I don't have any hints as to what to try or whether it's even possible to recover this way.

Is there any work around?  I have no way out of this, so this is a game-ending bug for me which is quite depressing.

Steam version on Windows 10

AMD Ryzen 7 3800X

nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 (2 G-sync compatible monitors)

    Try to repair the game.

(Origin > Game Library > right click MELE > Repair)
(Steam > Game Library > right click at MELE > Properties > Local Files > Verify integrity of game files.)

    Try to repair the game.

(Origin > Game Library > right click MELE > Repair)
(Steam > Game Library > right click at MELE > Properties > Local Files > Verify integrity of game files.)

  • To be honest, I was pretty skeptical that that could work, but it did!

    Thanks!

Same problem, but verify integrity of game files didn't help

Might be bacause I used save editor to romance Tali as femshep?

    Everything else works.

*Actually I set shepard back to male and am still getting this.

    • Repair the game again, some users reported that it only worked after multiple attempts.
(Shut down your virus scanner and other security software for the repair.)
(Origin > Game Library > right click MELE > Repair)
(Steam > Game Library > right click at MELE > Properties > Local Files > Verify integrity of game files.)
    • Do you use or did you use any Mods? (Everything, from texture mods over hair mods to customised Coalesced_INT.bin files.)
    • Did you edited the "GamerSettings.ini",  "BIOInput.ini" or the "BIOEngine.ini"?

    • Make sure Origin and Steam are closed
    • Go to your ">drive<:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Mass Effect Legendary Edition\Game\ME1\BioGame" folder.
    • Move the "Config" folder to your Desktop.
    • Test.

If this don't works create a DxDiag in text file format and post it with your next reply. You can do that  with the "Choose file" button at the bottom right corner of the reply window.
