Origin In Game not working with Mass Effect 3

I recently encountered a problem where the Origin overlay is not coming up when I play Mass Effect 3. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling both Mass Effect and Origin, to no effect. I set Origin In Game to work with all games, which made no difference, Mass Effect 3 isn't set to not use the overlay in its own settings.

I am using all of the DLC except the Extended Cut.

Really not sure what to do next.

Having the exact same issue. Checked all the same settings. Nothing seems to be working.

  • Have since tried older video drivers for my Nvidia GPU to see if that might fix the problem. Starting from the most recent (347.25) have tried every driver (10 in total) all the way back to version 335.23.

    No change to the problem.

I play on a laptop and the in game overlay works fine if I set the game to run on the integrated graphics card but no overlay as soon as I set it to use the Nvidia GPU.

Seems to be an incompatibility between how the current build of Origin handles the overlay and Nvidia cards/drivers?

Has there been no solution to this?  I'm trying mass effect 3 with all the free DLC's and I'm getting this same issue. I can't for the life of me figure out why the overlay isn't working.

I've got the same thing going on mine that I was advised to delete some temp files to try it. Temp files won't necessarily go with uninstalling, so you might want to try that. http://answers.ea.com/t5/Mass-Effect-3/Origin-In-Game-not-working/m-p/4344695/

    It didn't help me.

    Spoiler
Karl David: Thanks for contacting EA Customer Experience, my name is Karl David. How may I assist you today?
    you: Hi Karl
Karl David: Hi! Thanks for chatting in. May I please have your name?
    you: Eric
Karl David: Thank you, Eric. So, how may I help you today?
you: I'm having an issue with Origin In Game. Mass Effect 3 has started to not recognize that I have said feature enabled in Origin.
you: I therefore lack the ability to use it.
Karl David: Okay, so you are missing an in game feature? May I know what are you referring to?
    you: Origin's in-game overlay.
you: The white UI overlay I can use to chat with friends, invite them to games, etc.
you: It doesn't work in Mass Effect 3 anymore. It used to work fine.
Karl David: Hmmm... That's odd.. May I know when was the last time you were able to use it?
you: About a month or two ago.
you: I'm not sure on a specific time or date it changed.
Karl David: Okay, it's fine. Thank you for the information. Please give me 3-5 minutes to check for the possibilities here on our end.
    you: Okay.
Karl David: Thanks a lot for waiting. Okay, may I ask if have you already tried some troubleshooting steps?
you: I've tried some things. Anything in particular I should try?
Karl David: Yep! Let's try something. Could you please follow the steps provided here? http://help.ea.com/en/article/clearing-your-origin-temporary-files/
you: Okay, I'll report back soon.
Karl David: Thanks! Please keep me updated 🙂
    you: No change.
Karl David: Okay, let me check other things here.
Karl David: Okay, could you please try to repair your game ? http://help.ea.com/uk/article/i-cannot-load-my-game-from-origin-or-i-am-having-issues-in-game/
    you: Ok
    Karl David: Thanks!
    Karl David: Hi, still there?
you: Nothing different. It didn't need a repair.
Karl David: Okay, have you tried disabling and enebling the IGO back?
you: I've tried it at both the client level and the game-specific level.
Karl David: Great. So we're sure that it doesn't have a problem with that. Could you please try running your game in admin mode to see if it will make any changes by playing it on your default settings?
    you: Ok
    you: Nothing new.
Karl David: This is odd.. I'm checking some information here to see if this is working as intended now..
Karl David: Whoa, looks like other guys are experiencing this issue too http://answers.ea.com/t5/Origin/Origin-In-Game-Overlay-not-working-with-Mass-Effect-3/td-p/4333678
    you: Interesting.
you: I don't have much more time to chat unfortunately. Perhaps we could shelf this ticket for now? I could maybe get some diagnostic log files if the game will provide any.
you: Or Origin. Whoever the culprit happens to be.
Karl David: Yep. I was going to suggest you to uninstall andd reinstall the game thinking that it might help. Okay, I will be running a report about this. But I would also like you to post this issue on the forums for the developers to see it. How's that sound?
you: Sure, I can do that.
Karl David: Awesome! So, is there anything else for today?
    you: No thanks.
Karl David: I see. It's my pleasure assisting you today. You may now smoothly click the "end this chat" button to disconnect from this chat. Thanks again for chatting in and have a great day ahead!
    you: You too. Thanks!
    Karl David: Thanks, man!

Yes. I have the same laptop with Intel HD3000(i5 2410M) + Nvidia 540M. With the internal Intel OiG in ME 3 works fine.
But also works fine with Nvidia card in DA:I
