Origin In-Game Overlay Won't Disable for Mass Effect

I'm having FPS issues with Mass Effect Legendary Edition, so I've been trying to disable the Origin In-Game overlay since that apparently can cause performance issues. The problem is, even after I disable it both in the application settings and the game specific settings, it's still popping up.

I restarted my computer and the settings were still there. I don't know if that clears the cache.

I ended up finding a reddit suggestion of getting rid of C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin\igo64.dll which worked, so I'm done playing with it.

  • @EA_Illium The problem is not with the initial application. It is properly disabled following settings in origin. As soon as you pick which ME1/ME2/ME/3 u want to play, it launches that as a separate application, turns the overlay on(ignoring global settings), marks it as unknown software and goes into R&D mode with restricted options, while keeping the in-game overlay. Deletion/moving the file from the origin folders works but this is a brute force solution.

This is NOT SOLVED, this is an origin problem to be solved, not a user issue.
