[PC] Does anyone else HATE the glyph puzzles?

I've gotten far enough into the game where I am now getting the 5 row x 5 column glyph puzzles.

I personally feel that these are EVEN WORSE than all of the dang decription you had to do in ME3.

When I play a video game, I don't want mental stress. I play video games to relieve stress, not to induce it.

I've been to two worlds that I have had to leave, out of frustration,

because the "stoopid" puzzles were giving me a migraine.

Yes I tried a few times...

but on the 5x5 glyph puzzles, not only can you not have same glyphs in a row or column,

they also cannot have a repeating glyph in the separate sections... it's excrement! It blows!

It's worse than all the fricken decripting you had to do in ME3 combined, data pads, safes, doors, etc.

I don't mind puzzles usually and I find these to be very easy personally, it's just sudoku with glyphs instead of numbers. The thing is though... If I wanted to play sudoku... I'd be playing sudoku, I feel like this is very lazy puzzle design and is, unfortunately, a missed opportunity.

  • I love the puzzles and for me they don't take long. But I can understand that some people are annoyed by them.

There are solutions online and the remnant decryption keys which got really cheap with the patch 1.05. It's about 480 bugs per key.
So the glyph puzzles shouldn't be a reason to quit the game...just look up the solutions or buy those keys (you also will find a bunch of the keys through the game)

  • I Love the puzzles! I'm glad they added that. It's Boring and Monotonous to only shoot, drive, run, shoot, drive, run, shoot, drive, run, shoot, drive, run in the game. I hope they will add more stuff like this, secret areas, figure out how to get to some isolated areas, hidden doors, switches, mechanisms, etc.

They Glyph puzzles are (for me at least) enjoyable, just finished my first playthrough and well the puzzles are the only thing in the game that made me think.

Yup, same here. I like the puzzles. Puts mind to work instead of only shooting and listening to dialogues. Nice addition!

  • I like the puzzles, but then again I would hate it if the game included something like poker because I don't even know how to play that.

I never play sudoku or anything,  but the glyph puzzles are pretty easy.  There was only one that ever gave me more than a minute pause,  I think it was a +2 skill points in a vault or something.  Could have been a chest though.

My biggest problem with it:  Why isn't SAM doing them instead... ?  Why do you need a remnant decryption module when you have SAM?

There could be a utilitarian Profile,  or added to Explorer,  that gives some sort of aid in doing them. Like highlighting a few extra probable locations for symbols.   And maybe changes Scan into a 360 pulse that highlights important objects until they're scanned directly / normally?

Sudoku serves no purpose especially when we have a bloody AI in our head. You are telling me it cant solve a Sudoku puzzle, then whats the point of SAM even being there. The puzzle itself breaks the narrative of the game.

That might be the way they want to attest that both of you need each other to advance. Whilst SAM translates and identifcies Glyphs, you end solving a logical problem. Of course, this is a silly attestment imho, but it's the simplest way to put into words SAM's lazyness. ^_^ He allows you to try and evolve by yourself. He's a good fellow. He doesn't even complain you picked that awful hunchbacked Fiend as your date, as he's also going to experience all the ... exhilarating action himself too. :eahigh_file:

  • When I first saw the puzzle I did a *facedesk* but over time, I grew to like it, and I made it a personal challenge not to use decryptors at all 🙂 But since 1.05 the decryptors are more readily available in stores, so if someone's not a fan, they can stock up with those.
