[PC] Mass Effect 3 Could Not Activate Error

I own the game since 2013 if I am not mistaken. I beaten the game 2 times and have over 50hrs logged in on Origin (possibly more due to internet connectivity). I wanted to play the game again as ME is one of my favourite franchises. I own all the games on Origin and the ones that are sold on steam. I did not purchase LE because I own everything on Origin already. So I attempted to download the game yesterday and then I get this activation notification. It asks me for a product key. I click on the button and then it gives me an error saying it cannot register because I am possibly offline. It gives me an option to log in using my origin account which I do and still says it cannot connect due to me being offline... but how when I just logged in using my EA account?

I contacted support and they are not much help telling me because it's an old game its considered "sunset". Like wtf does that even mean when you guys are actively still selling DLC for this game....

I just wanted to play one of my favourite games. But during the holiday break I am left with a game I own and a ton of headache trying to google help also troubleshooting it on my own. THANKS ORIGIN!

  • The "sunset" argument sounds like an excuse. I just downloaded ME3 and played a multiplayer game. The game still functions as it did in 2012. This sounds more like an account entitlement issue, which I think support SHOULD be able to fix.

I would try support again and hope you get connected to someone more helpful. Keep in mind that support might be slower during the holiday period.

    • Make sure EA app and Steam are closed.
    • Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time.
    • Type or copy and paste "%ProgramData%\Electronic Arts\EA Services" (without the quotes) into the new Window > ENTER
    • Move the "License" folder to your desktop.
    • Test

I tried this method but still the issue comes up. I moved the "License" folder to desktop. Uninstalled the game using some app called "Revo" a user from another post suggested. Rebooted PC and then reinstalled the game and still getting this error.
  • Great! EA support is telling me to search the forums for answers... They also suggested going on to live chat, but I think live chat no longer exists. Why does EA even have a support department if they aren't even providing support? They are leaving it up to community members to do their job and they don't even know that their own platform no longer has a live chat. Yet they suggested all these options to me and have not once gave me a decent support reply... All this on holiday break when I just want to play ME 3 again because I recently got all the DLC for the game... THANKS EA!

Alright, so I guess live chat still exists. You have to go into the EA/help section of the game you want and find where it says chat with support. I am currently in queue to try and talk to someone

Good luck! I hope it works out.
