[PC] Mass Effect LE: Can't start ME2 or ME3

Question

Trying to play through the Legendary edition, and played through ME1 without any issues. Went to start ME2, I get the launching ME2 splash screen, quick black screen, then back to the launcher.

I've tried everything I can think of...uninstalled and reinstalled, updated drivers, tried running the MassEffect2.exe file instead, but it seems to just open the launcher. I tried starting ME3 out of curiousity, and got the same thing, splash screen, then back to the launcher. Anyone else run into this? Found a solution? Was really looking forward to playing through the trilogy again!

Bump for visibility, still trying to get this working with no luck. Here's a list of what I've tried so far:

Uninstalled/reinstalled from Steam (Twice)

Verified file integrity (several times)

Updated video drivers (Just updated to latest version released 2 days ago)

Have tried several combinations of "Run as administrator" and Windows 8 compatibility mode, both on the launcher file, and MassEffect2.exe, with no luck.

Tried allowing exception in Windows Defender

I'm on a dual monitor set up, tried disabling one monitor, still nothing.

At this point, I would kill for an error message to at least see which direction I need to be looking in, but launcher just brings up the splash screen, processes for 5-10 seconds, and pops back to the launcher screen, no matter what I do.
