(PC) ME2 : Import ME1 Character

Hello guys,

sorry if this subject is allready done, but I haven't see anything for me.

I have put the save files in the right spot.

But, in the game, when I clic the button for "import character" : nothing happened..

Please help me

(sorry for my english 😛)

EDIT : I play on Origin (and when I launch the game, there is a problem with the synchronization with the cloud) , the save file is in "C:\Users\[username]\Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect 2\Save\ME1". In the game, I can see my save. But when I click, nothing happened.

  • @Thenshii;  Since you didn't tell us where that "right spot" where you put your ME1 saves is, we have no way of knowing if you were correct.

And since you didn't say which platform you're using there's no way to tell if this will help, but here's the default location where they belong on the PC:

    "C:\Users\[username]\Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect 2\Save\ME1"

Have you tried the traditional import method?

Keep ME1 save in the default folder, open MassEffect2Config, go to 'save games', click 'Copy Mass Effect 1 Save Games', finally point to the right folder (Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect\Save).

You may need to replay the final boss of ME1 so the save file is definitely registered as an endgame save. This doesn't always work straight away.

yup, I have allready did this :/ didn't work also.

  • It's been a while since I last imported a save game but if I remember correctly, there are two types of saved games for Mass Effect and you need to copy and paste the correct file into Mass Effect 2.

Looking at my saved files on my PC, there's one type that has [YourCharacterName]00_AutoSave.MassEffectSave and another that Char_01 followed by a bunch of numbers.MassEffectSave. I can't remember which one is the correct one to copy over so I am just going to ask: have you tried copying both types over and seeing if it works?

From Documents > BioWare > Mass Effect > Save

    to

    Documents > BioWare > Mass Effect 2 > Save > ME1

It's the Char_01 and yes, allready done.

See, I don't have any problem to see the save in the game, lvl 49, but when I hit the button, nothing.

    @Thenshii

Try to repair the game. (in Origin > Game Library > right click ME2 > Repair)
