Problems Launching ME3 (Legendary)

Hi all!

I've tried everything I can think of, and I'm not sure what else to do. I purchased the Legendary edition through Steam a couple weeks ago and played through the first two games. I do have mods, but have not had any issues with them. When attempting to launch ME3, I go into the Legendary launcher, select ME3, it brings me to the splash image, and then the screen goes black for a few seconds and takes me back to the launcher. I have reverted all three games to base game, uninstalled and reinstalled the game twice, repaired the game in Steam several times, and I've updated my graphics driver and windows and am still having the same issue. How can I fix this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • That didn't seem to help, unfortunately. Do you have any other suggestions?

Please create a DxDiag in text file format and post it with your next reply. You can do that with the "Choose file" button at the bottom right corner of the reply window.

ME is crashing with an standard access violation error.

The problem is that there are many reasons why such an error might occur.

Please preform a clean boot and test the Game in clean boot mode.

Make sure your virus scanner and other security software and also Afterburner and similar software is disabled.

Make also sure that your GPU & CPU are not overclocked.

  • I was able to do a clean boot and make sure my antivirus was disabled. Unfortunately, that didn't seem to work. How do I know if my GPU and CPU are not overclocked? I've attached another DxDiag, if necessary.

    • Hit Windows key and X.
    • Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command prompt (Administrator),” or "Windows Terminal (Administrator)", whichever option is offered.
    • Inside the PowerShell or CMD, enter “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Checkhealth” without quotes. > ENTER.
    • If errors are found, notify us. If no errors were found reaped steps 1 & 2.
    • Inside the PowerShell or CMD, enter “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes. > ENTER.
    • The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here.
    • After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key and X again.
    • Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command Prompt (Administrator)”
    • Inside the PowerShell or CMD, enter “sfc /scannow” without quotes. >ENTER.
    • Post the message you receive at the end of the processes here.
  • For some reason, PowerShell tells me that this command doesn't exist, so I'm not getting any errors or anything from it! Am I inputting the code incorrectly? Thank you!

I was able to get it to launch, but only if I launch it directly through the mod manager. Still not sure what the issue is with EA, but the game seems to be running fine for now.

The spaces are missing. For the future, you can just copy the command out of my post into the prompt.

If it works with the Mod Manager the problem is most probably in the launcher. Look if "run as Administrator" is selected in the compatibility settings of the "MassEffectLauncher.exe"
