Re: Elaaden: room of five consoles problem

You may have started from the wrong end.

You can reload a savegame from before going down the vault and try again.

Otherwise you must work your way through the puzzle until you get it right.

When standing in front of a console you can see by the lit and dimmed lines what will be changed when using the console. You must end up with all being lit.

  • I know. The walkthrough specified where they were and that's what I followed. And I don't have a save game previous to the first time I tried it. It's beginning to look like there's no way to finish this vault.

You have nine autosaves. Unless you continued playing for some time after this one of these should be old enough. But as I wrote you can still solve this puzzle. Just try different consoles see what happens and eventually you can figure out the right sequence.

It took me a couple of minutes the first time before I figured out that only the two on the right needs changing (on my second playthrough). The outermost first.

Not sure how it is outlined in the walkthrough you used, but pretty sure the sequence is random (not sure though) so a fixed solution will not work. For me I remember it sometimes only needing a few clicks and sometimes a lot more (might have messed up though on that one).

In case you did not notice what the mechanic is, each console toggles the setting of itself and it's neighbors.

    Hello @Vellu78

It may still be random but in my last 6 playthroughs it has always been the two on the right. I don't remember how it was the first time I played.

Random or not, if the OP has already messed with the consoles they surely aren't in the starting position anymore without loading an earlier save (unless they reset somehow), so will just have to figure it out. It's not that difficult.

  • Okay, strange. I reloaded to a save from two days prior, repeated several missions, then finally got back to the vault and tried it again. This time it worked. Weird. I wonder why it didn't work the first time.

I think it might have been that you didn't load an early enough save which happened to me on my first playthrough.  You must make sure its BEFORE you enter that area because if you touch any other console and then try the last two it won't work.  why they haven't implemented a reset function i don't know.  but it it is always those last two consoles, five then four.  So i am pretty sure this particular puzzle isn't random but some are elsewhere.

Can never have too many save games. i kept about 10 in rotation for ME:A.. always saving over the oldest so that i have 9 fall back saves for points in time.

I do the same have 8-10 manual saves that I rotate and then of course there are also the autosaves.

I tend to manually save before big fights just in case it goes seriously wrong. It hardly ever does but better safe than sorry.
