Think I may know why... The SAM bug was fixed, but there's now there's a new bug with AVP. In the past we wont have enough avp to complete all military commerce and science pods, but after the latest patch, we end up having more than enough to fill out all pods. SAM then goes on about outstanding AVP and guess that also triggers his email notification. I didnt get any notification until close to the end when I have access AVP.

@VladVonCastein might be into something as i started to get the fake notifications too since im having like 4-5 excess AVP points. Maybe 1.07...

That might be it 🙂
I guess I never made the connection because the modding community fixed the AVP bug with a mod that simply kills off that notification completely, so even though we now with the patch get excess pods I still don't get the notification 😃
Might as well see if we can't make a fix that kills off the mail notification too, I check the mail every time I leave and return to the Tempest, so there really is no need for it 🤔

I think it's just spam email. Nexus probably ended up using Microsoft's spam filter. SAM announces the email within nanoseconds, then just before you open the console minutes later, the spam filter finally removes it and you don't see the email.
But I don't have the problem anymore. Perhaps you're surfing too many inappropriate sites with Peebee?
Yep, same thing here.. really annoying.
The bug was actually fixed in 1.06, it was re-broken in the 'hotfix' 1.07.
1.07 clearly did more then what they put in the patch notes, and most of it was negative. If I could revert to 1.06 I would gladly do it.
The bug is not only back, but it's actually worse now. The other day, Sam told me I had new email while I was in my galaxy window.
Seriously.. wtf is that?

It's quite funny how people will object to "sam" reminding you about your email.. when you visit the tempest once every 8-10 hours of gameplay.
Yet there's no threads on the constant BARRAGE of It's too hot, i'm boiling to death remarks from Ryder, Sam telling you every 5 seconds that your life support is either low or full depending on wether you're in sun or shade on Eldaaren. It is literally, continuous. But that's ok.. just no email spam..
Or is it because, the haters who complained so much, never bought the game, never played on eldaaren and therefore never had to put up with it lol.

People were complaining about the hazard notifications as well, just about the nonexistent new e-mails.
The hazard comments are somewhat annoying but at least they are for a reason. Because you actually get exposed to blood boiling hotness or freezing temps on Voeld. You could have less notifications or comments regarding to it but eh...on paper it looked good, in practice could use some polishing.
The nonexistent e-mails are a similar, yet a totally different case. You get notified even if you not getting any e-mails. You not spending that much time on the tempest? Of course you are.Talking to the crew, researching, developing stuff, customizing your armor and that can be time consuming and getting notificed of e-mails repeatedly during that process is just not ok. I still run to the email terminal to check, seeing nothing new...so yes its annoying, more than the constant reminders of getting burnt or frozen.

Well people no longer have a legit reason to complain about heat and hazardous environments as these have all been fixed with mods, so people can simply stop being lazy and get the mods and those issues are gone, but that is not the case with the mail notifications (yet) 😃
8-10 hours! damn you are slow at clearing planets hehe 🥳

Yeh I don't rush games, rushing is fasttrack to boredom.
I've never personally had sam tell me I have email when I didn't. So no experience of the bug, but I'd hazard a guess that those that are, aren't archiving emails and that sam is probably telling you you have email, when it's actually a read email. But as said..never actually had this bug.
I also spend as little time on the tempest as possible, don't really talk to people until I have to. The temp notifications are seriously annoying tho. As for mods.. that's something you get after the original game gets boring, to extend replayability, not usually something you get to make the original more playable. That's what the devs are supposed to do.
Overall it doesn't really bother me, I'm old enough now that I've perfected the ability to ignore people, so continually whining kids, wives, parents, friends, computer ai's.. just don't listen to them.
You just tune them out. My point tho, is that this sam notification is something that happens what? When you goto the navigation station? So once or twice.. per occasion on the ship. But on the planets you're being notified 3-4 times per minute as the game continually updates your current position relative to whatever life threatening situation you're in. Be that Radiation, Heat, Cold..

I'd be fine with a reminder once per planet when you land. I don't need him to tell me that "The temperature is below normal levels" every time I step out of a heated area. It's ridiculous. Hello! I have a life support gauge. You know what that does? It warns me when it's low. That's all I need.
