YEAH! I fixed it myself.. finely...
I uninstalled every 2005 c++ on my computer(don't do that :P) and found that the 8.0.50727.42 is the one that mass effect 2 uses.
I went to D:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Mass Effect 2\__Installer\vc\vc2005\redist and insttaled the 32 bit (you might have a slightly different installation folder, eg c:\)
Then I went to microsoft.com to download the 64bit verions.
I started the game before I installed the 64bit version, and that didn't work, but when I had both, it started fine.
this is a link to the 64bit version, but it might not work in a couple of months, I tried links from others when i was looking for the solution and they didn't work for me.

I've been encountering this problem now. And I tried all the solutions. None of them have worked for me.
You have the exact same error, "DLL MSVCR100" missing?
The "DLL MSVCR100" is part of the "Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package".
- Make sure Origin and the game are closed.
- Download the C++ 2010 Redistributable Package from here and here.
- Install both packages (run the the install exe as administrator) > reboot > test
If that don't helps, disable "cloud saves" inside Origin.
Close Origin and move the "Save" and the "BIOGame" folder from your "Documents\Bioware\Mass Effect 2" folder to your desktop > test
"Download the C++ 2010 Redistributable Package from here and here."
These links no longer work. I am also running into the same issue, and have downloaded the following C++ Redistributable Packages:
- Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable version 8.0.61001
- Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable version 8.0.56336
- Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable (x64) version 8.0.59192
- Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable (x64) version 8.0.61000
- Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x64 Redistributable version 10.0.40219
- Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable (x64) version 12.0.30501
- Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable (x64) version 12.0.40664
- Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable (x86) version 12.0.30501
- Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2019 Redistributable (x64) version 14.29.30133
- Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2019 Redistributable (x86) version 14.28.29913
All to no avail. Any assistance is appreciated. I am not sure if the switch from Origin launcher to EA Play Beta might have an effect here as well.
I am currently trying to solve the issue with Mass Effect, but I encountered the same situation with Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 when I tried starting those as well.

I'm closing this thread to stop it from being necroed.
If you have any issues with Mass Effect 2, please make a new topic about your problems and what kind of steps you have tried to solve them.
