Depends. Have you been able to run it before? (Particularly since installing it this time) Is it patched to version 1.02? Are you running in XP SP3 compatibility mode? Running Origin as Administrator?

i haven't been able to run it on this machine, but all the other things were true
it's fixed by now and i know the problem.
all Origin gives you is half the 1.02 patch and i couldn't use the installer to get the rest because i use a custom file path. opened the patch in 7zip and put whatever bits i could understand there into wherever i thought they might go and it worked after that. that's how i spent my tuesday.
also, somewhere in the process i managed to break the game into spanish, so i had to change it to international mode.

That's a unique solution. I like it! (Well, I mean in terms of complexity and sticktuitiveness. No sane soul should ever have to actually do it)
The full 1.02 patch for ME1 is available here (where it's always been) on the BioWare Official Patch site for Mass Effect. 😕mileywink:

but if you have custom directories, it misbehaives
