What exactly is happening if you start the game?
Is the MELE launcher starting?

The game didn't launch for me.

After reading this thread, I deleted the EA app, ran the game from Steam and let it reinstall the EA app for me. Afterwards, the game launched. Just wanted to confirm that this approach does (sometimes) work.

Thank you, and no, sir.  EA App says Preparing to Launch and then nothing.  No error codes, nothing.

2. I noticed it says EA Play on the MELE icon and not Steam as expected.  My EA account is linked to my Steam, Epic and Xbox accounts.  Is that problematic as far as you know?

@OldHammer75 you probably tried this as well, but in case you didn't - what I also did prior to EA app reinstall, was that I edited the properties of the Launcher exe file: in compatibility tab check the "Run this program as an administrator".

There are no specific entries about ME in your DxDiag, but a few about applications that should not crash on a healthy system.
There however is a LiveKernelEvent error report that would have created a dump (Memory image files at the time of the error.) that might be of interest.
(A LiveKernelEvent is a rather critical error.)

Please look under C:\WINDOWS\MiniDump" and under "C:\Windows\LiveKernelReports" if there are *dmp" files.

Zip the last ones from either directory together, load them up at a file sharing page like "oneDrive" or "Dropbox" and post the link here.  

Also look at this post and go trough the possible solutions,

Do you have a second EA account or does someone play on that system with a different EA account?

1. Hit Windows key and X.
2. Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command prompt (Administrator),” or "Windows Terminal (Administrator)", whichever option is offered.
3. Inside PowerShell, CMD or Terminal enter “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Checkhealth” without quotes. > ENTER.
4. If errors are found, notify us. If no errors were found reaped steps 1 & 2.
5. Inside PowerShell, CMD or Terminal enter “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes. > ENTER.
6. The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here.
7. After it reaches 100% reaped steps 1 & 2
8. Inside PowerShell, CMD or Terminal enter “sfc /scannow” without quotes > ENTER.
10. Post the message you receive at the end of the processes here.

Then:

Please clear your temp files:

• Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time
• Into the new window, type or copy & paste:  "%temp%"   (Without the quotes.) > hit "ENTER"
• Now your Windows Explorer should have brought you to the "C:\Users\>your user name<\AppData\Local\Temp" folder. > Delete all files and folders in it.
  (If some files or folders can't be deleted, reboot and try again.)

Then:

• Go here and download "Revo Uninstaller". (The freeware version, Portable version works too.)
• Run "Revo Uninstaller" > Uninstall EA app.
• At the end of the main uninstall, Revo will ask you which cleaning method you want to use. > Select "intensive" > Browse.
• If "Remaining registration content found" is displayed > Select All > Delete > Next
• When "Remaining Data and Folders" is displayed > Select All (Make sure the "Origin Games" or "EA Games" folder is not in the list) > Delete.
• Restart the PC > Reinstall the newest version of EA app from here.
• Repair the MELE.
  

  (Steam: Game Library > Right-click the game > Properties > Local Files > Verify integrity of game files.)

• Test.

You verified the integrity of game files in Steam?

Go to your EA account profile page (Connections) and look if your Steam account is shown as connected.
If they are, de-connect and reconnect them.

If that still don't helps, clean reinstall Steam with Revo es well > Restart your PC > Test.

Something in the connection is botched. 😉

But lets test something else:

Try to run EA app as Administrator:

1. Go into your EA app folder. (Standardly "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\EA Desktop\"

2. Right click the "EADesktop.exe" > Properties > Compatibility > Check the box before  "Run this program as Administrator" > Click OK

3. Run Steam > Start the game > Confirm the permissions pop up with OK > Test.

If that also don't helps:

Create a new Windows user account  (Administrator) don't use local special characters, use only Characters from the ASCII table

• Reboot > Log in to the new user account.
• Test.

Or, do you think it's an issue specific to this machine that interferes with the EA app?

Does it matter that I also have Xbox, Epic, Amazon and Steam on this same machine?  (those all work fine, BTW)

I really appreciate all your efforts to help.  Whatever you're getting paid for this, it's not enough.  (j/k i know you're volunteering your time and it's very kind of you.)

Unfortunately no, the only way is trial and error.
Enable all services and let the startup apps disabled > If the games still work a startup application is the culprit.
If not you need to disable the services again and enable them one or a few at the time and test.
