Re: [Steam] Can't launch Mass Effect Andromeda

@holger1405
Theres no such folder as "Temp" folder. I got only "Save" folder on the path you just written. Might it be an issue I encountered?

    • Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time.
    • In the new Window, type or copy and paste "%LOCALAPPDATA%\CrashDumps" (Without the quotation marks) > Press ENTER
    • Look if there are any "MassEffectAndromeda.Xxxx.dmp" files in the "..Local\CrashDumps" folder.
    • Zip 2 - 3 "MassEffectAndromeda.Xxxx.dmp" files together and upload them at a free file hosting service like Dropbox or Onedrive.
    • Post the link here.

    If there aren't any dump files of ME:

    • Press the Windows key > Write: Command Prompt > Right click on "Command Prompt" in the search results > Run as administrator.
    • Copy and paste:
      reg add "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps\devenv.exe" /v DumpType /d 2 /t REG_DWORD
      into the prompt Window > Press ENTER.
    • Play the game until it crashes.
    • After the game crashes, let all Windows crash dialogues finish.
    • Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time. > Type "%LOCALAPPDATA%\CrashDumps" (Without the quotation marks) into the new window > Press ENTER.
    • Zip 2 - 3 "MassEffect1.exe.Xxxx.dmp" or "MassEffectLauncher.exeXxxx.dmp" files together and upload them at file hosting service like Dropbox or you can use the Onedrive "public" folder.
    • Post the link here.

      If you want to undo the automatic dump creation, use the command below in a elevated command prompt (As in point 1) reg delete "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps" /f
  • @holger1405
    And that didn't work for me too. I did all you said step by step, even tried to

    Copy and paste:
    reg add "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps\devenv.exe" /v DumpType /d 2 /t REG_DWORD

    but, anyway, when I trying to launch MEA it not launches. And CrashDumps folder dont have any of MEA files. Only ME1. 2 and 3 with the date of creation when I played them.

    So after using the command in an elevated command prompt there are no Dump files in the "%LOCALAPPDATA%\CrashDumps" folder after you tried to run the game?

    Then it seems the game is not starting at all.

    Please preform a clean boot and test the Game in clean boot mode.

    Make sure your virus scanner and other security software and also Afterburner and similar software is disabled.

    Make also sure there are no compatibility settings or "Run as Administrator" set in the "MassEffectAndromeda.exe"

  • @holger1405
    Aaand.. Its didnt help. I tried to start the game in clean boot mode but it did nothing again. I clicked Run as Admin, tho. May be i should try to do a troubleshooting scan, or whatever this thing called, while im in clean boot mode?
    Also I have noticed one interesting thing. When im trying to lauch the game from EA App it opens steam, which trying to open another EA App by opening two empty windows which are supposed to be a "Log in" page. It opens EA App anyway but... Might it be connected to this issue?

    IT WORKED!! Yey!!
    Thank you for helpng me but... One more question:
    Is there any way to do this on my main user profile? Or can you advise me some programm that can fix corrupted files in my main profile?

    @D_RoZDeckii

    Just test in your main profile, Windows may have repaired some global files that might make it work there too.

    Apart from that, a repair installation might work, but there is no guarantee because we don't know where exactly the corruption is located.

    Easiest way might be to follow this MS help article to move your data over to the new account.
