Rendering fault message (using MEUITM graphics mod)

I am using the MEUITM graphics mod has it makes the game graphically better but I have been encountering rendering fault messages and was wondering if the mod will still work if I reverted back to the original BioEngine.ini file rather then keeping the edited BioEngine.ini file that is already there

    The mode will work, but the game will most probably look not as good as with the edited BioEngine.ini.

    Did you installed the LAA patch?

    Do the errors only occur in cut scene?

    Also double check for typos in the BioEngine.ini.

    Yes. The LAA patch was applied to mass effect.exe.
    Yes. The crashes occur in the cutscenes
    As far has bioengine.ini there was no typos as I only changed values that were shown on a video guide on YouTube and didn't add any new lines. If you would want to take a look I can send you my bioengine.ini file to have a look at

    Ok, copy the content of the "bioengine.ini" into a text file and load it up.

    You can do that  with the "Choose File"  button at the bottom right corner of the reply window.

    In the mean time Move the "bioengine.ini" out of the folder and test if the crashes still occur.

    here it is

    Also I read somewhere I don't know if it was here or on another forum that using Afterburner MSI sometimes causes these crashes. but anyway take a look at the file and see if there is anything wrong

    You should also change the entries for the Dynamic Shadow Fix:

    Dynamic Shadow Fix
    Use the following Bioengine.ini tweaks:

    Find the following entries:

    DepthBias=0.030000 or(0.012 if you restored to pre-official 1.2 patch values)
    MinShadowResolution=32
    MaxShadowResolution=512
    ShadowFilterQualityBias=0

    And change them to:

    DepthBias=0.006000
    MinShadowResolution=32
    MaxShadowResolution=4096
    ShadowFilterQualityBias=4

    Apart from that, do you use a 64bit Windows?

    Do you use SweetFX or a similar tool?

    The only interaction between Afterburner and the game would be the overlay (FPS) from RivaTuner. You can test this easily by shutting down afterburner and test afterwards.

    Still, overclocking the GPU could cause such problems too, so if you overclock set the GPU back to the factory settings to make sure.

    Did you tested the Game with a standard BioEngine.ini?

    Using a un modded bioengine.ini still caused crashes. My os is windows 10 64 bit and I.am using reshade with sweetfx. I have the executable running as admin and comparability set to windows xp sp3

    Did the game not run without the comparability settings?

    I also would suggest to move the corresponding .DLLs for reshade with sweetfx from the ME1 folder > test.

    Before I change those values there are two entries for DepthBias, MinShadowResolution, and MaxShadowResolution. it occurs in [Engine.Engine] which is where I changed the values and [Engine.GameEngine] which I left alone. and I regards to your SweetFX and Reshade the only files I see are SweetFX.fx. and Reshade.fx in the Mass Effect Binaries folder

    Think I fixed it....I went and totally closed Afterburner MSI and RivaTuner and ran the game and got through all the conversations on the Normandy without crashes. Hopefully it will stay that way. Thanks again for your help

    @seancass35

    Good to here, you're welcome, and thanks for the XP.

    @SweetFX and Reshade

    There should be a "d3d9.dll" in the Binaries folder, that is the injector for Reshade. To make sure you can look st the file description, it should say "Crosire's ReShade post-processing injector".

    @Afterburner

    You could try to disable the Origin overly if you have it enabled and then test if afterburner still causes the crashes. Of course only if you want Afterburner to run with ME1.
