thoughts on the beam emitter

the first time i used this aug i placed it on an N-7 Eagle, i was kind of annoyed that the weapon i installed it in still used thermal clips, as it just doesn't make any sense, it's basically a remnant energy weapon now. like i said a few times immersion is a big thing for me, and stuff like this just burns me a bit.

now, with the last patch i see that it now has an 80% reduction in weapon damage... to me that's just foolish, and i don't think i'm ever going to use that aug now. however, if it made the weapon that i installed it on not require thermal clips, and turned it into a proper remnant energy weapon like it should (imho), i wouldn't mind... but as it is, it's just to much bs.

@CasperTheLich Yeah, 200 RP, but you can only get one that way. You'll get additional copies through loot in the world.

For example if you unlock the VHS from the Milky Way tech, one goes in your pocket, and then Hydras have a chance to drop more.

Containers might also have them << not 100% sure on this one, though.

And remember if you are upgrading to more advanced gear and your current has custom augs installed, consider not selling the old gear. When you salvage them, you get the augs back.

Don't know the in's n out's of why.. but it could simply be that the mod was being exploited alot so they mega nerfed it.  Probably will rebalance it later.  One of the issues with having any form of multiplayer interaction in a game, is the need to balance stuff, people always find the easy way and that's basically exploiting any situation, map, mod, weapons, armour combination etc.  There's more than enough to unbalance the game if you choose to and that's really the whole point.. if you choose to.  Some would argue it's your right to choose how.. but there's an equal answer, that you don't.   That the devs decide this.  We just deal with it.

Solution is to separate the Single Player and Multiplayer weapons and powers tables. That way you can balance them for the different styles of play without one affecting the other.

i do actually save my custom weapons, and dismantle them for their parts, it's just that spending 200RPs on that? i'm not the type to pay 200Rps for gun nerfing. usually we get that for free. lol

    [v1.08]

So apparently some changes were introduced

Vintage Heat Sink: ammo regen, but 60% lower ammo cap (mods can still counter that pretty reasonably)

Beam Emitter: increased stability, no damage reduction

Here's my go-to PAW compared to the experimental Valkyrie that I made

PAW augs: double mod, 4x kinetic coil

Valkyrie: double mod, heat sink, beam emitter, 2x kinetic coil

To test the Valk. I took my hardcore playthrough, flew to Voeld, looked for a Kett infested site aaand... took it apart ^^ Had to watch for the "charge" in the gun, but I cleared the area about as fast as I did with my old rifle. Bit faster maybe, considering the higher damage on the Valkyrie, plus it was an MK VII versus my old trusty PAW V

I think it's safe to say that non-remnant laser pew pew is a viable alternative now 🙂
