Well, there are different inflections there.
Ryder might be ever friendlier when regarding the angara, due their so often mentioned 'protocols' (in spite of gunning down Rokaar rather remorselessly). What Ryder could take different turns upon being fierce or even mad about is relationship with other known characters. As a Pathfinder, there's a role of diplomatic importance on their shoulders, ans being downright obnoxious might tarnish their objectives.
Of course, that might be a simple explanation. Ryders are still humans. A little burst of anger or wicked malice once in a while could be of use as well.
Ryder is responsible for the SAM A.I. his/her father created. Acting evil might be the final nail on its coffin. Because most people will give SAM the fault for Ryder acting mean. So Ryder has to be as nice and diplomatic and forgiving as possible to show everybody that the A.I. in the head doesnt dominate her/him to an evil monster of domination and terror?
