They're not mutually exclusive. You could subscribe to EA Access or Origin Access and play it early regardless of whether or not you preordered.

But why would I do that? I already paid for the game... why would I want Origin Access? I am not going to pay $30 for access just for 10 hours of early game time on a game I already own.
@DreadBeardly "Origin Access" is a service which offers more than 10 Hours of a single game.
"Origin Access" gives you discount on a number of games and access to the game vault.
When you Pre-Order the game you are ordering the game (and any bonus content) only, not early access.
As a reward for being a "Origin Access" member you get the 10 hours of early game play.

It's $5/month and you get a 10% discount, so it's actually cheaper to subscribe for one month and then buy the game with the discount.
$30 is for a whole year. You don't need that. If you subscribe and immediately cancel, you get charged $5 and get a month's worth of access.

@MrRumpeltiltskin @Fred_vdp I understand HOW it works. I am commenting on the WHY. Seems like a backwards way to do things especially as Fred_vdp points out it is cheaper to go the access route. It is... it exists... it just doesn't make sense. And that still doesn't answer the question of why not give pre-orders the early access as well. I pre-ordered the game months ago. It would seem silly to go do the access thing now.

It's an incentive to get people to subscribe. A marketing trick.

Well with Access, you also get the game sooner like the 16th then the others. Or you can sit and save your $5.00 for a months subscription and wait till the 21st that is your choice.
I however chose to go with access and get it on the 16th.

Because EA bloody sucks....I also preordered the game and now everyone that has 5$ lying around played the game before me, without even buying it, just cause I didn't know of this. And * this - pre-order should at least match this early access offer. It is ridiculous. I'm bloody sick with answers of the "Well, it is how it is, screw you" screw you type. Got the same response from Asus about a motherboard recently...Just seems like nobody gives a * about anything anymore and customer satisfaction and feedback and doing things properly doesn't mean *.
ME titles were always screwed with their idiotic bioware points system for DLCs and not a single release that has everything in one. Now this. And BioWare store refuses to ship anything to my country (it's in the European Union!?!??) but ships to almost anywhere else. So couldn't get the Collector's Edition or anything from the ME:A merchandise either.
One question - If I go for early access can I still opt for my full refund after(or before) the game officially launches if I don't really like it?
Oh, and thanks guys for ruining my experience even before getting the game which is the most expensive one I've ever bought just because of that ME universe I fell in love with in the first titles. - Anonymous9 years ago
you are only getting it 3 ours early if you look at the actual time you start and in England they get it a full day ahead of us will not do that again

The game is good, for my style anyway, so i am looking forward to playing it.
But having a hissy fit over this minor inconvenience is rather childish.
Now the different release dates is a valid reason to moan about, there should NEVER be a wait time between regions when it comes to releases, it should be at the same time or at the very least, the same day.
It would cut down the piracy....not completely, but by quite abit, since most of the time, piracy is cause of the wait time, the rest is just a bunch of people that are just well....cheap.
