Why is all the Mass Effect series DLC still so much?

Between 2 and 3 I would have to spend $65 just to get the full story.

My question is why when I watched the rest of the dlc on a lot of other games go on discount during the recent sale

While I do not have any info on future pricing plans, it is still worth to check back once in a while to look for bargains.

  • With all due respect, trying to find a bargain with regards to Bioware DLC if you're a PC owner is an exercise in futility, considering the last time that one could get Bioware points at a discount was in October 2011...

And with regards to catman341's question - the reason why most of the DLC for other games on Origin are available at a discount is due to them not being Bioware products, and therefore, not tied to the horribly obsolete and inflexible Bioware point system, which again, has not been available at a discount in nearly four years, and isn't likely to change any time soon...

Addendum - Apparently, last week, one of the Dragon Age: Inquistion DLCs went on <gasp!> sale last week, for $10.49 instead of $14.99.  This is first time I've seen Bioware DLC for their games available for a discount on the PC since...ever, I think (Bioware point notwithstanding, of course.).

It probably helps that this is, I believe, the first Bioware title for the PC that isn't linked to the near-universally (I won't say completely universally because there are apparently some in EA/Bioware who don't want to see it go...) hated Bioware points.  Come to think of it, with DLC actually being on sale for a game within a year of it's release thanks to not being tied down to the restrictions of the Bioware point pricing scheme, one wonders that upon the release of Mass Effect: Andromeda, due to it similarly (hopefully) freed from such a flawed system, will have DLC available for a discount for PC owners, while ME2/ME3 DLC will still be trapped at full price, again, thanks to EA/Bioware's inability and/or unwillingness to resolve a patently ridiculous situation.

Well, apparently after FOUR YEARS and 2 months, you could finally get Bioware points at a 33% discount during the holidays.  But of course, not from EA/Bioware, but from Gamestop.  It still wasn't as good as the 50% discount Sony and M$ gives for PSN/XBL users, but at least they did something about this ridiculous scheme.  I'll wait until Bioware points are at 50% off or abolished altogether, myself.

Also, during the holidays, you could get Dragon Age: Inquisition GOTY (including ALL DLC) for $29.99 on Origin.  Meanwhile, in Biozzaro-world, Dragon Age II was selling for $19.99 on Origin.  If you want all the DLC for it, that's $36.95.  If you want both, it comes together to $56.94.  So, let me get this straight...Bioware's latest and greatest could be had for a surprisingly reasonable $30, but if you want its predecessor that by this point, along with the DLC for it, almost 5 years old, Bioware/EA expects you to pay close to twice that?!  Give me a break...

When Mass Effect: Andromeda comes out, I wouldn't be surprised at all if a similar situation develops where ME2 or ME3, along with their DLC, may well end up being more expensive.  Games that came out almost six and four years ago now, respectively...

I am one of those people who checks in every once in a while to see if ME3 DLC finally got discounted so I would actually buy it.. but nope. It never happens.

Now when I checked today for the first time this year instead of a price drop the DLC price actually increased for me.... When I last checked (I think in December) 1200 Bioware points cost 12 euros and 1600 Bioware points cost 16 euros etc. Now 1200 Bioware points cost 15 euros and 1600 Bioware points cost 20 euros.

Is anyone else having the same thing happen to them? I mean, never dropping the price is already extremely customer unfriendly, but going as far as to increase the price for DLC for old games.. that is just special.
