Why isn't there a level cap?

I'm trying to figure out why it was decided that ME:A wouldn't have a level cap.

We need a level cap if we have a NG+ feature. Currently enemies starts out leveling you once you hit level 81 (as that's when the last tier of craftable armor is unlocked).

Why not cap the player level at 81? 85? Why let us continue leveling to 130? 150? Did BioWare even play test what this experience would be like for a player?

Skipping a level cap means that I wont be able to use my main character for any DLC content as the enemies will be way to tough for my character to handle. This, in turn, means that I wont purchase any additional content for the game cause I wont be starting a new playthrough ONCE AGAIN just to enjoy the upcoming DLC's.

In short, the NG+ feature punishes dedicated players and discourages them from spending any additional money on this game. It's a very odd business choice on BioWare's part and I'd love to hear the reasoning behind this decision.

At this point, everything seems not like a high priority issue, the way they are.

    Dont be so sure.

Its actually pretty normal for things to quiet down around this point after a game launch. Some folks will be taking much needed holidays on rotation after probably not getting one in almost a year. Also easter just happened.

Just give it a few, patience is a virtue so they say !

I will give them time, no matter how I feel about it. It's not like I can teleport in their HQ and start court-martialling their agenda into mine, I guess.

  • I am not sure if it's just me, or a bug, but the level cap I've reached is 132. All my skill trees are full and any further experience earned contributes to a negative total. I wholeheartedly agree that the cap should be when the max gear level is acquired at level 80. The enemies continue to level with their ever increasing health/shield pool to what I believe to be the level cap of 132 while your base weapon damage and armor bonuses stalls at 80. Power Damage, health, and shields seems to continue to increase as you add skill points to the respective tree but the additive bonuses are miniscule at best. Your teammate, however, stops leveling at level 70 but they continue to pool excess skill points.

Level 132 insanity mode is insane. It requires specialization into a specific build through the use of augments, acquiring the AVP Innovation (max augment slots) as early as possible (level 4 AVP I believe), choice of weapons and armor sets. Your teammates perish often, tech constructs becomes nearly useless unless you specialize into it, you use cover more frequently, focus fire is more necessary, and profile switching becomes inadequate unless switching within your tree specialization (you lose a lot of bonuses if you specialize into engineer and profile switch into let's say, adept). If profile switching also save your specialized weapons and armor within the profile and the skill cooldown penalty is minimized from profile switching then switching profiles will become more viable and fun.

It's a little gratifying completing insanity mode on max level. The result of your choices of weapons, armor, augments, and skill becomes more pronounced in various enemy engagements. When to rush an enemy with a high threat value and when to fall back to a new engagement point to thin out the herd is crucial. To sum up my experience in level 132 insanity - failure become disappointingly educational and success becomes "holy Tann, Addison, that was a fun fight!". (apparently using a fictional swear word from Battlestar Galactica deletes your post. My apologies if this becomes double posted).

  • I don't really understand the math behind this, but the level is capped at 132.

Level 132 is the highest level (right now) you can reach

Every armor and weapon is X-able, and... AND... you can open ALL SKILLS (including Remmant VI from PEBE)

And you can play your main character in DLCs as each pt of them is a seperate entity, so just play your first or second not your third or fourth.

But if I intentionally leave one character behind, many things I find, side quests and communications will be missed and the DLC may play the story different than my MAIN main character.

I have one that is 100% complete but already level 89. That character would be a totally different story than my level 45 character at 83% completion.

Then I have a character at 57% completion that is level 110. This one is would be a different game than the others with the choices I've made.
