I'm no dev so I can't speak to the technical problems but imagine being a new player, the legendary edition is your first time playing yeah, you love the look and the feel of the 3 campaigns then you jump into multi and youre like.... holy * why does it look so..... old? why does it feel so..... clunky?
I can see how having it in the bundle would be nice for existing players being convenient and all but for anyone else it would be super jarring.
The UI tweaks would be gone, all the weapon balancing done in the story would be undone. Basically porting the multiplayer over would most likely require some bare minimum improvements to bring it in line with the singleplayer improvements just to help players transition into it and even that would most likely add a few months delay to the game. Then if they were going to make these bare minimum improvements they might as well do it properly so commit 6+ months to it.

Yes, I get that that could be an issue for gamers new to the series. It's just that I personally would prefer multiplayer with "bare minimum improvement", or no improvements at all, than no multiplayer whatsoever. The original @30fps 1080p doesn't look/play bad. Just enable controller support for PC.
Also, I'm no dev either but, the technical "problems" of porting over an already existing game component for consoles/pc (without the "tweaks") seems minimal.
And to avoid an unnecessary delay to the May release, the multiplayer could be released later as 'Free DLC'; which would give new gamers enough time to finish ME 1&2, and the game developers time to add the "UI tweaks" "weapon balancing" etc.. This can easily be accomplished with all the money they're about to make.

I think the best solution would be for EA to stop selling the trilogy and instead include it with the Legendary Edition. That's how it works for some other remasters and enhanced editions, including Bioshock and Divinity: Original Sin.

The original is 720p. Looks pretty bad to me.

I meannnnn there will be people complaining about changes to the originals and losing mods and all that jazz so they would still have to support the original trilogy at least as an offline game for people that already own it wouldnt they?
But aside from that i like the idea as long as the legendary edition isnt broken. if it came out like warcraft reforged and replaced the original version but was worse it would reaaaaally suck.
If the launch is smooth and it is a noticable improvement on the original then yeah i agree that taking 6 more months to work on the multiplayer and moving everything over (surely they wouldnt make us restart progress?) would probably be better long term.Still inclined to think that they will save their energy for a new multi in ME5 rather than rebuilding ME3 just to replace it 2 or 3 years later.
