If your enemies are geth then some of them can "see" through the cloak. For example through Javelin sniper rifle scope and such.
I'd say I did have the same problem but I never considered that a bug as I think enemies just continue to shoot at the same general spot on automatic for a couple of seconds, that's why I always change positions the second I activate the cloak.
In one thing I think you are right - I don't remember it being that way in original as I always used cloak to escape when being cornered.

I think it's always been that way. You're harder to detect, but not impossible. It's especially noticeable when you're alone, for instance if your squadmates are unconscious or if you're doing a solo round in the arena. I guess Shepard is just as invisible as a cloaked geth hunter, which is to say, not very.
That would make sense lore-wise, but it makes no sense as a gameplay element.
Also, the power description says "become invisible", not "become slightly harder to see, but get killed nonetheless".

I also don't remember cloak being this bad.
It's especially noticeable after ME2, where your cloak INSTANTLY makes all enemies lose sight, and you can literally walk up to them without any reaction on their part.
Now I got mowed down by three Cerberus guys on Mars with an active cloak, but then again, at times, it works as I would expect... Something is definitely not right.
I could get behind the added difficulty of them taking some shots in the general direction, but my Mars experience felt like I was perfectly visible while moving around. Dunno, could have been a very random and very unfortunate coincidence with a squadmate lining up right behind Shepard?

That is how I think of it as well. I can see cloaked geth hunters but my squadmates totally ignore them. So by that logic some enemies can see you cloaked and some can't.
Or maybe it depends on your difficulty level, I sometimes lower difficulty for some missions, if I die to much) and I remember on lower difficulty it is also easier to hide under cloak, so I think there is correlation there.
Hey, could this get some recognition?
I'm constantly getting tracked and killed by regular Cerberus grunts while cloaked. I've always been an Infiltrator player, and I've regularly played on Insanity, I've never noticed something like this. Mobs even exclaim "target lost" while actively turning after a cloaked Shepard and shooting...
I thought I was going crazy for a while there! Glad someone else was experiencing the same frustration. Seems outrageous that there would be no discernable change in AI behavior upon triggering cloak.
I'll provide a clip this time, the Armax Arena is the best place to showcase how broken this is.
This happens with the simplest of mobs as well, through all of ME3.
Edit: I just noticed that there's some other bug present in this clip as well... Anyway, the same thing happens with a fresh match start, and also mid-match. Rushing enemies (e.g. husks, brutes) simply don't care that you changed position while being cloaked, they know exactly where to go. At this point this ability's description should be just "give yourself an extra power cooldown for no reason".
The reaper solo challenge was disgusting this way, I'm pretty sure this wasn't the case with the original game.
If you play ME3 on insanity many enemy's still can "see" you if you're cloaked, especially if they see you engaging the cloak, meaning if you go out of cover and clock in the full line of sight.
That was not different in the original game and makes imho perfect sense.
The cloak is also not preventing auto targeting weapons such as missiles or direct damage powers to hit your Shep even if she/he is cloaked.
I personally don't see any difference between how the cloak worked in the old games and how it works in the MELE, at least not on insanity.
Well I'm gonna have to install ME3 OG now, because I really want to call BS on that.
I think I was 16-17 years old when it came out, as a kid I would have been a raging idiot if Infiltrator was this useless, and I don't remember that being the case, lol.
I wanted to play some ME3 multiplayer anyway. :D
Edit: Downloaded, I hope I'll have time to test it tomorrow.
All of my "main" playthroughs of the original trilogy were as an Infiltrator (as recently as 6 months ago), as was my first playthrough of the Legendary Edition, and in my experience the Tactical Cloak functioned the same in both versions.
I usually activate the Tactical Cloak from cover and use it to run past (or away from) enemies, and unless they're shooting at my squadmates or I run toward where they were already firing I don't have any problems being shot while cloaked.
EDIT: And now having viewed this clip where someone demonstrated their usage of the Tactical Cloak, that's exactly the behavior I expect. They use it out of cover while being shot at and barely move from the location they activated it. Still being shot at in that situation makes sense to me, and is as I remember it in the original games.
