Those female Ryders in here...looking pretty good. Almost all of them.. too bad i cant stand playing a female. Im not sexist just for some reason doesnt fit me. I had 2 playthroughs in ME1 with male and none with female. About 7-8 in ME2 with the male Shep but only a half with the female as i lost interest somewhere after the collector ship mission. ME3 had 6 playthroughs (plus 3 NG+) with male but only one with female (plus NG+).
I just cant romance male characters ๐. Yeah i know i can be single but who wants to be single if you can basically romance almost any crew member.
Guess if i start a female one, i will go for Suvi, she looks good , has personality and her accent got me anyway. Maybe Gil, he's funny.. or Liam... NAH.. ๐
I talk too much... here's my Scott. There was another preset which i liked but it had some texture/shadow issue at the eyes so i dumped that one.

Being a straight guy i always played as a male in rpg's for immersion reasons.
ME:A forced me to make a female because i don't like any of the male preset and in my opinion, they may look decent when they are not talking but during animations they look worse than female Ryders.
As for the romances the workaround is simple, i romanced Peebee ... Suvi is nice too. You don't need to romance a guy.

A straight guy myself, but I can't really do RPG immersion in games like this where the character makes dumber choices than I would, all those obvious traps Ryder walks into and the forced choices annoys the * out of me ๐คจ
Personally I almost always play female characters when the male character doesn't have the hero's appearance or you are forced to make illogical choices, I simply can't relate to them and at least with a cute, sexy or beautiful female character I have something nice to look at while I play :eahigh_file:
For the most part I always end up playing these games more as a guiding force of the character (you may refer to me as God ๐), helping them through a world of peril ๐
Oh and btw, there is a mod out now that will let you romance any romanceable NPC in the game, no matter your or their gender, so my Sara is currently romancing the * out of both Suvi and Cora hehe ๐

You have a solid point here. When i play a female character i also play like a somewhat "guiding force".
In the original trilogy though, i played as default male Shepard because he looks, talks and acts badass. - 9 years ago

Off topic but my ME3 Shepard ๐

when i play a game i usually roleplay it, even if it has nothing to do with rpg elements. now, usually the character's gender doesn't concern me... and sometimes it helps me get more into a character when i can't directly relate too them... such as a female character. and besides, i've found a bada** character becomes even more bada** when it's a woman, and they also look better in armor then us guys do.
should we start a hottest ryder poll or something?

Not a bad idea, but the competition would be strong among the female Ryders. Too many good looking ones are there, i couldnt decide who to give the credit ๐ค

Wait, the one who designed the first Ryder was named Jayde?
The name of the nude texture in the game is "hmf_arm_nkda_jayde_diff" ๐
The male version is called "Steve" hehe ๐

Oh Jayde Rossi is the face model for Sara Ryder lol... Go google her... She's hot...

Jayde Rossi looks hot indeed.
If you ask me, Sara lost out big time.

I used the default Sara and my male Ryder certainly wasn't a looker, but here's my wife's character.

Flipping hell! you weren't kidding, she's gorgeous, too bad they didn't make the character resemble her in any way whatsoever ๐
- Anonymous9 years ago
She looks great in motion. I play on lowest settings so screenshots aren't that great, but it looks nice ingame where you have that grounding to base it on and compare. Then there's the weirdness where sometimes they seem to age 50 years or seem to be smushed. Dunno why Bioware games in particular have that problem with consistency. I haven't noticed it in most other games.

Alright, here's a few shots of one of my Ryders.
These are at 1920x1080 resolution btw.

I know the feeling. I made my male Ryder in a way that I got used to it (in ME1, 2 or 3, I usually played the default male Shepard, never bothered me much and I got used to him that way), from the face number 3, tweaked here and here, he ended up looking like a friend of mine, who passed away almost 10 years ago. And no, there's no creepy thing as: "I got my friend back!". It just that he was a handsome and amycable guy, and being able to reproduce his features in a game felt nice, a way to greet him, if you will. Pity that to take a screenshot would require me a lot to do.

LOL I never kid when it comes to women's looks... In order to stay alive, I do tell a white lie every now and then though lolol... Anyway think the biggest mistake bioware made was to announce Jayde Rossi as Sara's face model. In all honesty I find the default sara hotter compared to the default femshep, but after looking at jayde rossi... oh man... They could have made someone a strong rival to Yennifer of Vengerberg(google her and watch her on youtube if you never played the game and dont know who I am speaking about lol, you wont regret it) but well they made her normal... Normal is so overrated, that's why we watch movies and play games...

I totally get the argument, but personally I prefer "normal" looking in a game like this...or atleast not super-model gorgeous. Just doesn't feel right...Could be my age preference (1978 vintage here).
In Witcher they atleast have lore reason for sorceresses looking how they look, so they get a pass....plus they do have some truly horrible ones in the mix (the Crones). W3 should be benchmark anyway. Incredible variaty of different looking NPCs, old and young, ugly and pretty, even children. (even though procedurally generated from bits and pieces you recognize once you've played a couple of dozen hours).

Well my vintage is a bit older still lol. The thing is that for many it's a fantasy game and in fantasy anything is possible that doesn't happen in real life. You see it in the movies too. Now, I do get that not everybody wants this and that's totally cool. I thought it was great that in SWTOR people could make characters that are overweight for example. Never was too impressed with facial hair on the male characters though and that's a real problem here as well.
I do think a big part of the problem is the inconsistency in the graphics quality throughout the game. I'll say it again but some of the harsh lighting like in the front of the Tempest just makes any character look ugly. The recent graphical improvements really help as well. I think I just miss some of the CC options like actual nose and brow shape that are missing and the difference between your character in the CC and in the actual game.
The only problem I have with the Witcher series and why I never played it is because it's a fixed male protagonist. They have their idea about what looks badass or cool and I don't share it, so I'm not gonna sink many hours into a game where I don't like the guy I have on the screen all the time. I prefer playing females probable because even though I try, it seems impossible to create a male character that looks cool from my perspective.
So I definitely agree on variety, also in body shapes and age. ME:A is not in the military either anymore like Shepard was. So why not give longer hair styles to the guys? Just as an example.
And yeah, the top model look might be too much for some, but what's left of the default Sara Ryder is just really rough. What I'd actually like is being able to pick the standard Ryder faces and modify them but you can't. Well, someone here said you could but I haven't been able to figure out how.

To each his own my friend lol... Am older than you 1970 but I still like them hot lolol.... Oh the crones could be hot, remember the scene before Ciri fights them when they were nude and stirring the pot of heads just make sure you leave before the magic and illusion is gone lol....
Jokes aside, like I said in my earlier post, I actually find sara ryder hot compared to femshep and I wouldnt complain nor even criticise at all if not for the fact that I now know she's modeled after jayde rossi.... Hey if you look down your window now, pick the next girl on the street and if Bioware uses that as a face model, I will have absolutely nothing to say... LOL if I am a shareholder of the company I would ask a simple question, why spend unnecessary money on a hot model if you are not going to use her assets? Might as well just use an intern and use the saved resources to further improve the game, could probably hire 2-3 more animators for a month with the money saved lol.

Well, that's actually a very good point indeed. Why bother spending money on something if you're not going to use it...I think it's a very fair question, regardless of you what you think of her looks.
