Car freezes when at high speed then game crashes on PC
Hiya
I`m having this issue with the pc version of NFS Rivals where sometimes when I`m driving at high speeds my car stops completely and the road infront of me isn`t rendered. (Happens a lot on the bridgess). After a few seconds I have to stop the game in task manager or else my pc crashes. I also have the fps drop problem as well in certain areas but this happens sometimes when I`m in areas with a crisp 30fps. I have everything on low settings and this still happens. Is there any solutions and am I the only one having this issue?
This crash seems to happen a lot less when hosting the game.
I ran some tests and found 0 crashes while hosting a friends only game. I like the fact of running into fellow racers / cops online so once I finished the hard assignments I turned public game back on.
Too bad none of my friends play this ☹️ Is there a community or forum, where people can get company for NFS: Rivals?
I rarely see that cop players co-operate in public games and chase the same racer, they just mind their own business. That's a shame. Also in general, seems that when there is only 6 players in a session, they rarely interact, most just drive alone and do their own thing.
I started to play this only recently, despite that I've owned it from launch. They finally (at some point) had fixed the frame drops that happened in certain areas. This allows me now to cap my frames to 60. I didn't want to play at 30 frames, because I'm a PC gamer and 30 is not enough for driving. Now the game is actually pretty cool. The momentary frame drops prevented capping to 60, but now they're gone.
Too bad I get the freezes with 30 frames too - they really should fix this, we are paying customers.
Found one solution.Normally in 64 bit OS we would open applications with label _x86.But for this game 64 bit users must use NFS14.exe and 32 bit users must use nfs14_x86.exe

The problem is Ram accsess, the is an option in you Bios (Windows XP/Vista/7/8) called shadow ram this feture allows information to be kept on the ram when useing high demanding applications, it's use to recall information rather than load it again, The NFS game uses this to make loading timess faster but, it has an error of failing to get the texture updates correctly, this means that the road texture is on the Ram ready to be loaded but it actually stops it because of the shadow ram feature, if you turn it off, then the game will get its load from the Hardrive and store less of it on your Ram, If your system is useing an SSD then the game will be perfect, Just remember that when this feture is of you may find that high demanding games with take a longer time to load.
Hope this works as it did for me, it helps to have 2 or more GB of Video Ram for this game
I have a 64bit system and start the game with the 64bit exe, so I don't think, that's the problem.
What @theangrychild1 says sounds plausible, but - according to my Google search - the only way to disable Shadow RAM is messing with the BIOS and I don't want to do that.
I am a bit disappointed, that such a game breaking bug is still in the game, even though it's known for over a year. And it's not like this bug doesn't occur that often. In my first 3 hours of playing Rivals my game froze/crashed 2 times.
I really hope this can be fixed, since in my opinion Rivals is a great game, which is also the only reason I'm still playing it, even though it crashes often.
1. Make sure you've downloaded the latest drivers for your card and the NVIDIA Control Panel. 2. Right-click any free area of your desktop and select “NVIDIA Control Panel.” 3. Under the "3D Settings" group on the left-hand side of the NVIDIA Control Panel, click “Manage 3D Settings.” 4. Open the Program Settings tab in the Manage 3D Settings menu and click the Add button. 5. Browse to the .exe of the game you'd like to make a profile for. For example, with FIFA 15 you'd select "fifa.exe" within C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\ fifa 15\Game. 6. Click Add Selected Program, then find Power management mode in the drop down menu and set it to Prefer maximum performance.
After an hour of the game, I have not noticed any error and frozen car.
[Comment Removed - Admin.] This is BS, I just paid for this game and cant even play more than 5 min without it crashing. Been to over 15 forums and tried many many suggestions, from EA, to individual posts. I have even tried rolling back to 5 different Nvidia drivers. I swore I would never buy another EA game after the hackfest that took place in Battlefield 3, but I really do like the need for speed games.... what a waste.
And of course the Guarantee is good for a short time. Too bad I didnt play more during this short "Guarantee" period they seem to brag about on the Origin page. Your game is garbage EA, you should be ashamed of yourself. EA at one time put out some very good titles, I remember at one time I was an EA fanboy, now, I hope you go bankrupt. A year with a bug so bad, the game just quits.... I'm fairly certain minecraft is hiring, I think the need for speed games may be a bit much for you. Maybe try some Indie games on steam and try to work your way back up to something, that you once were. A company that gives a darrn.
