Car is stuck in reverse (game is unplayable)

Hi just got the game and was really excited to play, only to find that the controls are completely broken... I open the game and the car will only reverse and if I hold the accelerator the wheels just spin on the spot.

I'm using the xbone controller and i have already tried adjusting deadzones, unplugging usbs, and all the rest. Is there any proper fix? or just another case of EA's poor quality control. Definately considering a refund at this point.

    The fix you mention Tom is for the previous patch. It doesn't work anymore. The new patch made a mess of it.

    I will make sure to look for new user reports on possible new bugs that have popped up after the new patch. Thanks for the comment.. 🙂

    Same thing with me as well I am currently on the line with customer service if they give me a solution I will post it here. I agree that EA and some other companies like Ubisoft have been really slacking. At the moment the only big game developers I trust are nintendo and blizzard entertainment.

    Here is a link to a video of the exact issue I recorded

    I had the same issue, and fixed it myself.

    What I did was I uninstalled vjoy, and a gamecube controller driver. If you have any drivers to use controllers other than the xbox360 I would recommend uninstalling those drivers. It worked for me.

    Btw it seems all ea customer service could tell me is to reinstall the game. lol

    HOPE THIS FIXES IT FOR YOU 🙂

    @oooorad

    Thanks for posting this. I am currently in the process of creating a sticky with a list of all programs that could cause conflicts within Need for Speed. I will add this to the list.

    Lastly, I spend a lot of time on the phone myself before I came to the forums. I would like to share some information on what an Advisor can or cannot do. Basically, it is impossible for an Advisor to have any idea on what could be running on a users system. If you think about it; there are so many programs that could cause conflicts with Origin, Need for Speed or even other programs.. it is impossible for them to go through a list of running programs with you while on the phone.

    The main step that our Advisors can test with you on the phone would instead be a clean boot. If done properly, this shuts down all background programs and processes that are not related to Windows. If the game then works there is a clear indicator that something on the system is causing the issue.

    Not sure if they tried this step with you but I hope that does provide some clarity.. 🙂
