Checkpoint UI in NFS Payback gameplay video

In the last two gameplay videos, UI has been greatly improved. Overall,UI provides more feedback and adds more subtle elements and animations.Except for one thing, that's the sign at checkpoint.

The original logo is relatively simple, that is, a blue dashed ring.
The new version adds to the two layers, as a whole looks like a gear or an open tin.The inner layer is made up of arrow marks, the same as the arrow sign on the barrier. Personally, I feel a little repetitive in the design elements.
I personally feel the new version of Checkpoint UI as a whole like a mobile game. The original Checkpoint UI is more concise.
It's just a very tiny suggestion. Even if the game keep the new version UI, I think it's ok.

I would imagine that the developers, you know the people who are currently playing the game, probably decided the original just arrows wasn't enough. Maybe they were missing checkpoints and decided it needed the white line too.

  • But what is single logo or checkpoint of smartphone near of no cockpit, no toyota, Lexus, Ferrari? Nothing.

  • Actually, I don't think the outer white solid ring redundant.I just feel the inner blue arrow mark is the same as the blue arrows on the barrier, so it looks a bit repetitive.I think the outer white solid ring, the inner blue dashed ring is also good. If the test found that the player is easy to miss the checkpoint, then compared to the dashed ring, the new version's arrow mark ring design can really play a guiding role. So I'm sure they'll continue to do a lot of testing and choose the best one.

I recently learned that Toyota would not appear in NFS Payback. Although I do not have a special preference for Toyota, but I can understand that it's a great pity for the fans who love Toyota.Toyota is said to have recently changed the licensing strategy, resulting in some new racing games will no longer include Toyota's street cars. But I believe that EA and Ghost games are doing their best to ensure the diversity of the car list. After all, no game is perfect.

Although the brand logo and UI these elements are very small, but these are suggestions I can give to the game within my ability. We all hope that this game can get better and better.

The one in 2015 was boring and easy to miss, the arch checkpoint looks better and is more visible i like it

If you like this kind of sign, you should play at racing games for android, it's full of that type of assistance visible at 10km and if it's not enough, move on Mario Kart.

I don't play mobile racing games, they are terrible imo. anyway why is everyone hating on the arch checkpoints? i noticed that these arches were only on dirt races so far

  • NFS Payback user interface is more concise than before, so it looks like some mobile game. I think it's OK. The style of the UI in each generation will be different. The key is whether it can play the role of guiding the player in the game.In the offroad race, the ring checkpoint design is easier to be recognized by the player.Compared to NFS 2015, I prefer NFS Payback's checkpoint design.
