I'm wondering if this is normal... my frame rate drops to the low 20s sometimes evecn 15 in certain scenes but usually stays around 25-35 and in some areas goes up to 60fps
im wondering if its possible to achieve a constant 60fps in this game, i have the recommended hardware for the game
8 core amd
ati radeon 6950 2gb
8gb ram
any one have any tips to optomize it so i can get a smoother experience? the game would be 10x more better if i could achieve a steady 60fps
My Radeon 5770 isn't the fastest these days, but in combination with my Core i5 2500 I'm able to run most games pretty well on 1680 x 1050 pixels.
The settings that the game installation picked for me (most medium to high) kept the fps at a pretty steady 30, but never above - I actually thought it had been capped at 30 fps like NFS The Run was, before the patch.
Occasionally it would drop in the low 20s, usually when day turned to night and the lights would go on in the city. Setting 'shadows' from high to medium helped here.
It wasn't until I read the Neogaf thread about NFS MW, that I started to experiment with dialing back more settings, and to my surprise, fps would actually jump to 50 or even 60 on the open road, but unfortunately as soon as I'd turn a corner it immediately dropped to 30 again. As a result the framerate would constantly jump back and forth every few seconds (I'm talking literally 60 to 30 to 60 again in a few seconds) depending on your direction or the lighting conditions, giving a very 'stuttering' effect.
In the end, the lower, but more steady fps from the very beginning at least made for a less distracting experience.
I just LOVE your work Criterion! The game is awesome, as was your version of Hot Pursuit (best racer of this generation in my opinion), but these FPS drops are just killing the experience on this game for me, please fix it as soon as possible!
My specs are as follow:
- Core i5 3550 Ivy Bridge @4ghz
- EVGA GTX680 SC Edition, driver version 310.33 beta
Yet another person with the same problem here. I'm way above the minimum and even the recommended specs, yet the game runs like garbage with random drops to 25 fps.

Would be nice if we just could get a post by a mod telling us that they have all the dxdiag's the need and what the current news are regarding to next patch. There's so many issues with the release for all platforms, yet we're saying little to none reaction for the dev's themselves.
