Lost game progress on PC with Cloud Save enabled

After some good hours playing from REP 44 through 50, I got my REP, money, cars and performance items rolled back to 44 after EA servers were struggling to keep online and kept constantly disconnecting despite my computer having normal internet access. My cloud save option is enabled, and as it says in the little help icon next to its option: "Get right back into your games where you left off on any computer. This enables cloud storage and syncing of save files for all supported games.". So clearly it did not worked as intended and screwed my game progress, despite the game requiring internet access to even play solo.
