Need For Speed Rivals Origin activation popup on launch (Doesn't work)

I bought Need For Speed Rivals on Steam a few years ago and I wanted to play it again recently but the game kept bringing up an origin activation popup even though its long since gone. I've tried many different fixes, uninstalling & reinstalling the game, the EA app and Steam, yet the game brings up Origin activation regardless even though it no longer works (See image below)

I've tried logging into this, creating a new account, forgot password, nothing worked. Regardless of what I do the game refuses to launch. I have Dragon Age: Inquisition and that game launches no problems but NFS Rivals doesn't launch.

I also tried running the Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable but it did nothing (see image below)

If anyone can help, would greatly appreciate it since I love this game and I want to relive some of my teenage memories I had when I played this game on the ps4 at launch.

    Hey KillerV722

Thanks for taking the time to explain the issue you're encountering, along with the steps you've already tried!

If you haven't already, the following workarounds helped players in the past, so please give the following a try:

    • Delete everything in C:\ProgramData\Electronic Arts\EA Services\License
      Alternatively, press Windows + R, then type: %ProgramData%\Electronic Arts\EA Services\License
    • Reset your password to exclude special characters

Let us know how it goes, thanks!

I did both just now and it didn't work, exact same issue with activation. Every time I click play in steam or from the EA app the activation popup comes up blocking me from playing the game.

    Thanks for that update KillerV722!

This is a bit tricky with Origin out of the picture. But here are some more steps we can try:

    1. Close the EA App
    2. Press Windows + R and type: %ProgramData%\Electronic Arts\EA Services\License
    3. Select Folder Options > View > Advanced Settings > Hidden files and folders > check 'Show hidden files, folders, and drives'
    4. Delete all files that appear in the folder
    5. Press Windows + R and type: %temp%
You should be brought to C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Temp
    6. Delete all files and folders, then clear the EA App's cache

It might be worth checking with live support to make sure the Need for Speed: Rivals entitlement is synced properly on the account, and to see if they can run a refresh.

I already tried that step about hidden files and it did nothing just as the previous fixes did nothing. I tried getting to live chat via EA Help but this popped up.

So I'm completely out of options. I paid for this game and yet I can't play it at all. I understand the online servers went down but the Singleplayer should be fully available. Why is the Origin popup even coming up at all? I thought it had been removed a long time ago? Anyway that doesn't matter, I'd really like some help to make this game work (though I'm not sure what else to do at this point).
