I can confirm 100% reliable offline on Xbox one S. As far as achievements i've never really paid attention to them, and I always reconnected online for multiplayer matches once I was able to start the game offline. Please post your results with the Xbox one X after you've tried it offline quite a few times. *Note: Game could still crash/freeze once you go back online, it is only 100% reliable not to crash/freeze if you stay offline.
@Infinite0One wrote:Can confirm that this method works which was what I did prior to getting on.
Cool, thank you for confirming! Can you please post which Xbox console you have, xbox one X, xbox one S?
Update: Tried it on Series X! Success!!!! I tried it twice and it worked! The servers still aren't entirely stable, however, as it takes a long time to actually find one sometimes. Still, no freaking freezing! (No offline method required either)

I hate to tell you that the game starting twice without crashing/freezing doesn't mean that it won't crash/freeze again. You would have to start the game and be able to play it at least 20 times before confirming it was 100% crash/freeze free (without going offline).

I'm assuming EA games are now either using Microsoft servers to run the game and/or since Rivals is now part of game pass they have had to open and maintain more EA servers in order to accommodate the influx of players. Time will tell, but as of today I have successfully started and played Rivals twice without it crashing/freezing but this does not mean it is fixed only that it's possibly fixed, the only way to know for sure is to keep testing it. I will keep trying to start and play the game daily, and keep everyone posted. (keeping fingers crossed!) 🙂

*****UPDATED on 11/15/20: I am sad to report that the game is STILL crashing/freezing when playing online only! Since this happened I'm going to assume that the game is still being run on EA servers and that they are still either, a) not enough servers to accommodate the influx of players or, b) the servers are just not being maintained. ☹️
It's 2020 and it still crashing
- @Capt_Bones4u2 I'm having the exact same issue. Game glitches and crashes at "Finding a game to join"

All you have to do to play 100% crash/freeze free is to disconnect your Xbox from the internet and start the game and Voila! Now, if you really want to play online multiplayer, you can disconnect the internet from your Xbox and start the game, once your in your garage you can then reconnect your Xbox to the internet and find a multiplayer match ***Just keep in mind once you reconnect to the internet the game can still crash/freeze. Happy gaming! 🙂
- @phillypily19 I know what is causing rivals to crash. Fix you change the ports on xbox one and it will work and not work like that. Settings :> Network:>Advanced Settings:> Choose ports. What i know, This issue is caused by Xbox updates and making rivals freeze and crash due to xbox ports by updates. I hope this helps🙂
